Mass Effect - Cloud Sync Conflict Deleted All Saves

So me and my brother each have our own Steam and EA accounts, and because Mass Effect Legendary Edition does not allow family sharing on Steam, we both bought our own copies of Mass Effect Legendary Edition. He plays on his account, and I play on my own, but we play on the same PC. Two days later, my brother hops on to return to his game. He gets a message of a "Cloud Save Conflict". He selects to continue with local files, and finds that his save has been deleted. 2 hours of progress was lost. I check up on my own account, and my saves are also gone. I put a lot more time into this game than him, and so I ended up having 12 hours of gameplay basically flushed down the toilet. Are our saves lost forever? Can they be recovered? How do we prevent this from happening again? This is absurd! We purchased two copies of the same product just so this to happens.

I don't know if there is a supposed standard working order for a case like yours, with two EA accounts running on the same PC, I have zero experience with that.

But fact is the game always uses the (Windows)User Profile System folder "Documents" of the currently active user for the saves. ("C:\Users\>your user name<\Documents\Bioware\Mass Effect Legendary Edition\Save")

I doubt that the game cares for your second EA account in this case and still saves into that folder.

Right click on the MELE cover in the game library > Game Properties > Cloud Saves > (Scroll down) Restore last local saved game.

If you are lucky you can restore your last local save game there.
If the field is greyed out there is no way to get the save files back.

    Possible workarounds:

    1. Crate a second Windows user account (Administrator) on your PC.
That will create a second User Profile and therefore also a second "Documents\Bioware\Mass Effect Legendary Edition\Save" folder.

    2. The game is perfectly capable of running two different careers (Two Shepard's) at the same time.
Just name your Shep's differently and switch careers at the start of the game if you switch with your brother.

It is always a good idea to crate a automatic back up of save games (any data in the Documents folder really) that is important to you. EA cloud is a QOL feature, it is not a viable Back up solution.

Ok, I found the Save folder. Clicking on "ME1" shows me a file named "Launcher_Profile" and a folder named "PROFILE". Inside this folder is a file named "GamerProfile.pcsav". That's all there is in the Save folder. Right clicking on Mass Effect Legendary Edition doesn't seem to do anything on the EA app. Right clicking it on Steam does indeed give a list of options, but not the ones you've mention. There is nothing about Cloud Saves that I can find.

There are no cloud save functions, besides the automated you encountered, build in EA app yet, so my guide was for Origin.

    https://www.dm.origin.com/download

If you don’t have it on your system anymore it is however unlikely that Origin will be able to restore the last save.
