Mass Effect 1 don´t open

@Ivanluiz2011 Were you able to solve the problem? Because I have the same error, but I've tried everything and nothing. If I go straight to the file it says that "Windows could not find the .exe file" and if I rename the file, Origin does not recognize it and asks to download the game again. If I leave both and run the file with the name .exe, the message "Invalid or missing .par file" appears.

I'm sorry for the English, that's all google translator, because unfortunately the support from Origin in my country is non-existent and we can't even play a game in peace due to the quality of the service that EA provides.

  • @Sovereygn

    • Go here and download the "CCleaner". (The freeware version.)
    • Uninstall the game via the Windows control panel if you can find it. (If not just continue.)
    • Run the "CCleaner" > Registry (left bar.) > Scan for errors.
    • Fix selected errors > Run the backup > Clean up entries.

    Than:

    Clear your Origin cache.
All settings in Origin (only in Origin not in the games) are back to default settings after this.)

    • Close Origin completely.
(right click on the Origin symbol in the task bar > close)
    • Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time.
    • Type or copy and paste "%ProgramData%/Origin" (without quotes) into the new window > hit ENTER
    • Delete all the files and folders in the Origin folder, except for the "LocalContent" folder.
(The "LocalContent" folder must remain untouched.)
    • Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time.
    • Type or copy and paste "%AppData%" (without quotes) into the new window > hit ENTER
    • Now your Windows explorer should have brought you to your "C:\Users\>your user name<\AppData\Roaming" folder.
    • Delete the "Origin"  folder inside the "Roaming" folder.
    • In the address bar of your Windows explorer click on "AppData".
    • Open the "Local" folder.
    • Delete the "Origin"  folder inside the  "Local" folder.
    • Restart your PC.

Now run Origin as Administrator (Right click the Origin desktop shortcut > Run as Administrator.)  and try to download and install the game again.

  • @Sovereygn Yes. It was resolved with the help of @ Holger1405.
In my case, it was IBM Trusteer Rapport that was preventing the games from opening. The errors you reported were not displayed. After uninstalling IBM Trusteer Rapport everything worked normally.
  • @holger1405 Once again, thank you very much for your help on another page. Uninstalling IBM Trusteer Rapport, as suggested, solved the problem.
