Just got the Mass Effect Trilogy starting from game 1 and it hasn't frozen, it's just stuck on the loading screen Relay animation.
It's right after the scene with Benezia and Saren after Eden Prime. I tried quiting and reloading the save but the same thing happened again.
I deleted the Game Data Utility and reinstalled (which takes FOREVER!!!) but it fixed it. I've got the PS3 disc version btw
Thankfully not to the degree you're having yet but mine is constantly freezing up during "loading" scenes. I get a sort of warning it's coming because the game starts to skip a couple of times and then the relay loading screen comes up for a new area and never actually loads/starts to freeze. For me, the restarts have worked, but I hope you have luck finding out how to bypass yours as well. It's annoying enough even when it does reset.

I'm not sure a full reinstall was entirely necessary. My game froze at the final loading screen the first time I beat it so I turned off auto saving and signed out of the PSN. I then fought Saren again and crossed my fingers... and sucess! I will note this was on my veteran playthru and that I have the DLC PS3 version of the game. I will be playing through this again on hardcore and insanity (not for a while tho as I plan on playing ME2 and ME3 again before that!) and will post an update on whether or not this works on higher difficulties as well.
