Game crashes in the beginning of the "Horizon" episode, when Mordin starts talking.

If it's always in the exact same spot, there may be data corruption and you'll have to either repair the installation (if installed through Origin) or reinstall the game.

You missed to write about System File Checker which is an in-built tool used to scan and repair system files.
1. Insert the operating system installation disc. It is required as the program copies files from the CD ROM to your hard disk.
2. Click Start | All Programs | Accessories | Command Prompt.
3. Enter following command-
SFC /SCANNOW
4. Restart your computer for the changes to take effects.
Repair errors and crashes with PCFresher. You won't experience said problem again.
