Mass Effect 2 DLC not working

So, I have had Mass Effect 2 for quite a while now... Got it for free I believe when it was "on the house."

I then find a link, provided on Official EA help sites, which gives you downloads and installers for the DLC.

Installed the DLC, and Updated the game, got it to run, and it says it can't authenticate the files.

Link is here https://help.ea.com/en-gb/help/origin/origin/download-dlc-for-classic-origin-games/

It's just a little annoying how the DLC is given to us by EA and not available for use.

Please Help me out with this situation ^-^

  • That site was created to help people who previously owned the DLC but didn't move their games over to Origin.  On old system, with a disc based game, and not having it on Origin, you bought the DLC from BIoware site using Biopoints and then downloaded it from the Bioware Social Website.  Some months ago, EA shut down the download site, as they had previously shut down Bioware Social site, and thus anyone who owned the DLC couldn't get them anymore if they needed them.  So EA then created a new site to download the DLC for people who already owned them, so they could use them in game.

    In the new system and for anyone who has their game on Origin, all this is handled through the Origin app/store.  If you want the DLC you will have to BUY them and then they will all work.  EA says this on the download page but doesn't come out and post it in BIG letters so there is always some confusion about it, and some people posting that it is all free, now go get it.  This is NOT the case, the DLC still needs to be bought, no matter what anyone else is saying right now about that site....the only exception to that is the Cerebrus Network dlc which should come free with the game, those should work...

    If you are interested in getting the DLC, use the browse games tab and click on Mass Effect to bring up all Mass Effect items in the store, down a few rows you should see DLC bundles for ME2 and ME3....for me one was priced 25$ and other 30$ US.  As a note, if you click on Mass Effect 2 in the browse games options, it will only show the game, and not the DLC bundles.

    I have the old CD version. I can download most of the weapon packs but when I try to download a story dlc like lair of the shadow broker, the installation fails and the error message pops up saying that the file is corrupt

    You downloaded the DLC from the site listed above, on EA and when you try to install it gives an error message??

    Which file is corrupt?  Anti-virus used??  Language??  DXDiag flie??  Exact error message??

  • the website you provided is saying its not secure and a hacker could be trying to intercept

    @Pierrelutz

    You can look under "D:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Mass Effect 2\BioGame\DLC\"

    There you should find several folders, if you provide a screenshot of this folder I can tell you what DLCs are installed.

    Otherwise you can check the mail terminal of your Shepard the first time you are on board of the Normandy, you should get several mails in regards to the DLCs.

  • IF YOU HAVE ALREADY INSTALLED ALL YOUR DLC DOESNT MATTER IF THEY ARE PAID OR NOT IF YOU SUCCESSFULLY INSTALLED ALL THE DLC THEN ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS FIRST DELETE THE SAVES YOU HAVE PLAYED ALREADY (I WOULD PREFER, GO TO DOCUMENTS  THEN BIOWARE AND SAVE AND DELETE THE AUTOSAVE, SAVE BY SELECTING EACH INSTEAD OF DELETING THEM FROM INSIDE THE GAME )AND EXIT THE GAME AND TURN OFF YOUR INTERNET CONNECTION AND RESTART A NEW ONE OR START A NEW PROFILE WHATEVER YOU LIKE THEN ALL THE DLC YOU HAVE INSTALLED WILL WORK TRY IT AND ONE MORE THING BEFORE YOU DELETE YOUR ALL SAVE MAKE A COPY OF YOUR SAVE TO AN ANOTHER FILE AND THEN DELETE IF YOU DELETE THE SAVE AND START A NEW GAME INSTEAD OF NEW PROFILE YOU WILL SEE ALL THE ACHIEVEMENT YOU GOT WHILE YOU PLAYED WILL REMAIN THERE AS IT IS, AND YOU  WON'T LOSE YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS
