OK well what about all of us who downloaded the game from origin and just want to play it. I have tried a repair install, that didn't work. I tried to delete anything that existed in the license file before the repair install, that didn't work. tried to remove what repair install added in license file, that didn't work. Mass effect 1 and 3 work fine. Does anyone from Origin actually have a fix?
Thanks for the posts everyone. Dbmondo, are you getting the exact error message in the title?Just to check, are you all using the English version, or one with a different language?

I am getting this error on my ME2 Digital Deluxe version as well. I have an open case with "Specialist support" which has been ongoing for 2 weeks with no end in sight.
I should note I have a regular edition of ME2 registered on my Origin account and the issue only began after I downloaded the latest patch. I have tried everything suggested here, and have even gone as far as to try istalling on an alternate machine that has never run either Origin or ME2 with no success.
If I get a resolution, I'll post it here...- EA_David12 years ago

Thanks for the update, orpheus. From my latest info, this can't be resolved on the player side, and we should be able to assist from our end. I'll take a look to see what's holding up your ticket, too.

For what its worth, EA account support also promised me that a specialist would contact me about my issue. I never got a response nor any inkling of any hints. I am lucky to have fixed it myself but there are many others suffering from this. My experience would leave me to believe that this happens when ME2 detects a different authorized CD key... or for others who have only a single copy of ME2, maybe an invalid CD key.
Lastly, I tried hard to find where this specialist support ticket tracker is and could not for the life of me find it. I hope that someone from EA posts the link to help out the guy here who are unable to play and wish to file tickets.

I had this Problem today too, and i solved it.
I changed my Password for my Orogin Account because i read it in some Forums. this diddn't help.
After this i let Origin repair my Game. It loads around 21 MB, and after it my Game started.My Game Language is German.

So far none o the solutions listed have solved my problem.
After trying to refresh the game (while having it download any beta updates), fails to launch entirely. I see the cloud save sync screen appear then nothing else happens.
It seems the game is having difficulty launching.
This is on Windows 10 by the way.
