More likely than gorath's scenario is that your laptop has both an Intel integrated HD-x000 graphics chip, and the nVidia GTX770m, and for some reason the Intel chip is what's being detected. To see if this is the case, run the ME2 config utility "C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Mass Effect 2\Binaries\MassEffect2Config.exe".
And if it is, look in the owner's manual for how to disable the on-board video completely.
I know you said you turned-off gpu switching, but that was in nVidia's control panel. Your rig (and ME2) may not pay attention to that...
Hmmm...I don't have an "origin games" folder under program files (x86) or program files. I actually considered this, and like I said in the original post, I went to the Nvidia control panel and selected "use high performance Nvidia processor" as oppsed to the defualt one witch I've heard is the switching between the two cards option. So is the solution to just try a bunch of old Nvidia drivers until something works?
You have to be able to adjust the path to your particular install. If yours wasn't an EA/Origin download, then you won't have that particular folder Find the one that you DO have.
(This is basic PC stuff. If you don't understand how your own machine operates, then heaven help you when you have to troubleshoot something! I even underlined and bolded the filename so you could search for it. I won't hand-hold someone who can't even figure out where their own game is installed.)
Ah. I see. The whole thing was under the Steam folder. And it does seem as if, under the "display adaoters" tab, the only option is the Intel Graphics. I've done some hunting online and it sounds like it's not really even possible to turn off the Intel graphics without causing issues? I'm not sure. I haven't found anything in the manual yet either. I'll keep hunting. Thanks for the help. If you have any other insights, please let me know.
