OK, lets see if a third party application or service is the culprit.
Preform a clean boot and test the Game in clean boot mode. Disable your virus scanner and Afterburner and similar software as well if you use it.

I believed I have tried clean boot and stopped third party services and none seemed to work. Have tried disabling Microsoft services too and that has not helped. Just about to give up ☹️

You checked that the 1050 is used?
- Create a new Windows user account. (Don't use special characters in the Username for that account)
- Reboot > Log on to the new account > Test.
Yep - tried the new user account as well. Didn't work ☹️
I had another look at config.exe and comparing to another game that worked, the default pulldown menu already has Nvidia, whereas mine is set at Intel as one of the 3 options to pulldown tab in the Display settings. I have tried starting the main exe as Nvidia and even went to the Nvidia control panel to make sure the game .exe is set to Nvidia but the config pulldown is still not showing it. I have attached a screenshot. Not sure if this has anything to do with it.

Sorry - I tried installing Origin and the game on another lesser spec laptop and it plays well there. Noticed the Display pulldown(in the config.exe) has no Nvidia on it as default so there goes my theory on suspecting that it could be the issue. I do noticed the laptop had a couple of prompts - 1) Alert message the hardware is not full compatible but will still run the game(which it did) 2) it started up on a small window(as opposed to full-screen) and lower resolution.

So inside the NVIDIA control panel the "MassEffect2.exe" is set to the "high performance nvidia processor"?
Yep - have done this earlier too. You can have a look in image attached.
- holger14056 years agoHero+
OK, lets go to the drivers.
- Download the latest available VGA drivers for your notebook from the Dell website.
- Follow this manual to the letter to cleanly uninstall all NVIDIA and Intel driver components.
- After the clean uninstall Install the Intel driver first > Reboot > Install the NAVIDIA driver.
- Test.

Hi again - sorry for the long pause, was upset that ME2 is still not working this time, Andromeda as well. Anyway, just to let you know I have tried what you have suggested uninstalling Nvidia and intel drivers and reinstalling. Uninstalled Andromeda as well and reinstalled. And I got this from my Windows event log:

• Go here and download the "All in One Runtimes" package. (Description)
• Install all VC++ runtimes.
• Restart the PC. (a real "Restart" not just shutting down and start again.)
• Test
If that don't works:
- go here and download the "Microsoft ".NET Framework setup verification tool". (Manual.).
- Check your .NET 3.5 + 4.0 (and higher) .NET installations.
- If errors are found use the ".NET Framework Repair Tool"
If this also don't helps, attach a new DxDiag and if possible a dump from the Andromeda crash.

Before your reply I actually went ahead and uninstall all the VC versions needed in the install folder and reinstall them again. I found that the last 2015 version needed to install didn't install as it didn't like that I have a new versions installed 2017. So I uninstalled 2017 so that I can install 2015 so I assume all is in order. Anyway I tried using the All in One Runtimes package and restarted my device and the game. It didn't work. And then check the integrity of a.Net 3.5 and above and all is ok - no errors. Here is my dump file - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1iD9fh5U1dA9pKW53JsQlqGq6C7Sdslg2/view?usp=sharing

Please download Memtest86
You need to create a bootable USB drive (All data on this USB stick will get deleted)
The instructions are in the README of the downloaded Memtest package.
After you created the bootable USB drive you need to boot your Computer from it and run MemTest86. (Instructions are also in the README.)
Run multiply pass troughs, best overnight.
If you have any questions, let us know.
- 5 years ago@holger1405 Completed the MemTest and there were no errors.

- Create a new Windows user account. (Don't use special characters in the Username for that account)
- Reboot > Log on to the new account > Test.
If that also don't works I would advise a repair installation of Windows.
Here is a very good guide. This process is normally very save, but you should nevertheless back up all important data before starting the processes.
- 5 years ago@holger1405 Just want to thank you for the help you have provided at your own time. You have helped me narrow down where the problem was, which I suspected was either my RAM(I had 8 gb) or Windows OS issue. As it was too much a job to reinstall my Windows I left it for a while until I upgraded my RAM recently to 16gb and guess what? it worked! With some Windows update recently as well as repairing ME2, it finally started up. Even ME Andromeda started working too! Hope my experience with my computer can help others who have similar issues. Thanks again!
