Mass Effect 2 won't start - missing files even after repair install

Hi there,

Mass Effect 2 simply will not launch [I have the game on Digital Download - from Origin] - I click the play button in Origin, the "Launching" Origin window pops up, then disappears, and nothing more happens. I've looked in the processes tab of my task manager and nothing related to ME2 in any way appears.

I tried google searching for fixes, and none of the "fixes" I found worked.

I checked this page, and I am missing every single one of the files it mentions - not just "EACore.dll" and "EACoreServer.exe" that it tells me to check, but even the files I need in order to perform further fixes - "EACoreApp.ini" and "EAAccessInstaller.exe".

Can anybody send me these files, or tell me where to get them?

Thanks in advance

Notso.

  • Sorry to resurrect a long-dead thread but I also had this issue today on ME2 and ME3, tried to follow all of the steps I saw posted everywhere but I found a fix for it.

Basically all you need to do is go to your Mass Effect 2 folder, then open binaries, then their should be an application called MassEffect2Config.

Just open this application, click "Video" under Mass Effect 2 and change "Windowed" from "Default" to "Windowed", close the application and try again to run the game. The game will open in a very small window in the middle of your screen, just go to extras and then options/settings and change your graphics settings to whatever you like. Hope this helped someone  🙂.

Hello! I'm also having this problem. Just beat Mass Effect 1 and wanted to start 2. ME2 is being problematic never starting AT ALL. Would love to see a fix. This is suppose to help: https://help.ea.com/article/problems-launching-mass-effect-2 but I can't get it to work. Is there a download to these files? Help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks to anyone who can help.

  • I'm having the same problem, is there anybody who found a fix yet?
