Mass Effect 2 won't start

After hours with EA tech support, including escalated staff, similar results to those posted in this thread -namely failure to load ME2 after trying to use the configure utility & success loadint ME and ME3.  Staff gave it their best shots but did not have any idea how to fix the problem other than to advise repeated and unsuccessful reinstalls. 

This thread turned out to provide the best diagnosis of events leading to a similar problem experienced by many.  After following the suggestions of this post I was able to import my ME profile from ME from a trilogy installation.   I was able to adjust the graphics within ME2 to an acceptable level.  Will see if it works again tomorrow.  Thanks for taking the time to post these tips.  If I have a choice in the future I will acquire product from Steam unless EA shows more commitment to customers.

Perfect!  This worked.  Same issue as described above.  I didn't even have to inport my ME1 save after validating the install, it was already there in the ME1 save folder that I had already delete.  Must have been loaded from the cloud when i relaunched.

Hey, I have pretty much the same issue, but I never imported my ME1 character, I tried your method, and it didn't work worked, any suggestions?

what the Hell !

I am not a kid or a lab mousse that is hee to fix BUGs Origine or Bioware are too lazy to fix !

what are you guys doing , on this website asked for bug reports almost two years ago !!!!!!!!

also no fix in the update and you dont bother for your users but mass effect player are at least 18 and work !

I wish there was a way to get the money I lost not workking and trying to instal that right back but you guys dont care and it's a shame !

now I got to re-instal the all thing because I aint doing no work arounds from users that may cause more bugs later so I will NOT , I had mass effect 1 and played it fine and it also worked with the trilogy , I also had mass effect two before origine and it worked fine but I got the trilogy thinking : cool I will have all 3 and have a session on them all but it's all spoiled now!

I will not instal mass effect 3 because I lost so much time with the bugs on mass effect 2 that now I'm sick of it !!!!!!!!

get your Bugs sorted , I have lost money and time here and it's just a shame because you guys make money of it today and will tomorow !

I'm sorry for all the buyers that will get screwed thid christmass getting more trilogy of mass effect ! we are not your lab mousse and it's not users that should fix this with work arounds but this company ! keep your beta test and work better !!!!!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately none of the fixes worked for me. Reluctant to contact EA support again, as I got someone who could barely comprehend English...

Will have to uninstall/reinstall YET AGAIN and try the manual import. Here goes YET ANOTHER 10+ hours of download/installation...
