Mass Effect 3 crash/black screen PS3

I'm severely frustrated with this. My ME3 game goes to a black screen during loading and locks up my ps3 forcing me to hard reset. I've tried backing my saves and restoring the hard drive, to no avai...

    Hi,

    Have you already tried to clear the Game Data utility for Mass Effect 3?

    To do that go to the XMB and the Game menu. Scroll up to Game Data Utility and find Mass Effect 3. Please make sure that you really go to the Game Data Utility and not the Saved Data. You cannot restore a saved game once you deleted it.

    Delete the Game Data Utility info for ME3 and restart the console. You can redownload the DLC via Account management – Transaction History – Download List. Redownload all DLC for ME3 including the Online Pass. Once done, restart ME3 and you’ll be prompted to re-update.

    Purchased Leviathan DLC. Now stuck in infinite "Checking Downloadable Content" loop. Game freezes on that screen and won't do anything. Went to Game Data and deleted everything. Restarted PS3. Re-downloaded Extended Cut and Leviathan again (about 4 hours). Re-installed both. Bypassed the Version 1.09 25MG DLC & Patches update. Restarted PS3 and Mass Effect 3 and everything worked. Quit game immediately. Restarted game and this time downloaded Version 1.09 and restarted PS3. Started ME3 and now stuck again at the "Checking Downloadable Content" screen and can't do anything.

     

    Just deleted Game Data folder again and now downloading Extended Cut and Leviathan again (another 4 hours). Will not download Version 1.09 25MB DLC & Patches again unless you have a way to make them work together. There's an obvious compatibility problem here.....

    I just bought the game but I can't get past the intro splash screen.

    Deleting the game data did not help. Installing and not installing 1.09 update does not help.

    Any ideas?

    I am trying to play Mass Effect 3 on the PS3 for the first time ever and am experiencing the same issue.  I have no Game Date to delete/clear.  I tried to hit cancel to bypass the update and still just got the black screen.

    I bought the PS3 ME Trilogy specifically because I had not yet played ME3, and being able to do  so is completely unacceptable.  It doesn't make me feel good about EA's customer support that this has apparently been an issue for 10 months with no resolution.  Please advise.

    @EA_Spectre This did not work for me on my ps3 . I'm not even using internet or playing multiplayer
