mass effect 3 dlc not working

Leviathan, Omega and Citadel DLCs are no longer working. I played Mass Effect 3 about a year ago, and everything was working fine back then.

For some reason, I can't get any of them to work anymore. Also, upon starting a ME3 game, clicking the Downloadable Content tab does nothing. Any help would be appreciated.

  • I think the best steps to take right now is to first repair the game in Origin, the make sure you're logged into your EA account on the game's main menu.

To repair the game, right click it in the Origin library and click Repair Game.

When you say the downloadable content tab, do you mean in the game or the 'extra content' tab in Origin itself?

  • Hi

    Thanks for the prompt response.

I've tried the repair function at least twice now and reinstalled twice (a different drive each time). I'm hoping for some new ideas...

re: Download Content Tab. Once the game starts up and is connected to EA online, offering choices like continue/ new game/ multiplayer/ etc, one of those tabs is Downloadable Content. Clicking that tab now appears to do nothing. I mean, I suppose that it's possibly because I already have all the DLCs that there are to download, but I thought I'd mention it, just in case it was related to this problem I'm having.

No DLCs appear under the Extra Content tab for some reason.

I have never used any mods. Until you mentioned it, I wasn't aware that there were any,,,

What is your Origin version number?

What is inside the ">drive<:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Mass Effect 3\BIOGame\DLC" folder?

(A screenshot and the size of the folders would be nice.)

    Please clear your temp files:

    • Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time
    • Into the new window, type or copy & paste:  "%temp%"   (Without the quotes.) > hit "ENTER"
    • Now your Windows Explorer should have brought you to the "C:\Users\>your user name<\AppData\Local\Temp" folder. > Delete all files and folders in it.
(If some files or folders can't be deleted, reboot and try again.)

    Then clear your Origin cache.
All settings in Origin (only in Origin not in the games) are back to default settings after this.)

    • Close Origin completely.
(right click on the Origin symbol in the task bar > close)
    • Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time.
    • Type or copy and paste "%ProgramData%/Origin" (without quotes) into the new window > hit ENTER
    • Delete all the files and folders in the Origin folder, except for the "LocalContent" folder.
(The "LocalContent" folder must remain untouched.)
    • Move the "Mass Effect 3" folder from inside the "LocalContent" folder to the Desktop.
    • Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time.
    • Type or copy and paste "%AppData%" (without quotes) into the new window > hit ENTER
    • Now your Windows explorer should have brought you to your "C:\Users\>your user name<\AppData\Roaming" folder.
    • Delete the "Origin"  folder inside the "Roaming" folder.
    • In the address bar of your Windows explorer click on "AppData".
    • Open the "Local" folder.
    • Delete the "Origin"  folder inside the  "Local" folder.
    • Restart your PC. > test

Ok, there's the requested screenshot. Now for the sizes of each file in order from top to bottom:

    metadata = 14.5kb

     = 1.79 GB

     = 209 MB

     = 133 MB

     = 189 MB

     = 421 MB

     = 199 MB

     = 567 MB

     = 53.7 MB

     = 204 KB

     = 295 KB

I'll clear the cache and temp folders now and see if that helps...

    Did it help?

Neither the Leviathan, Omega or Citadel DLC are in this folder.

The path is also strange, did you set "Program Files (x86)" as you "Game Library location" directory in Origin?
