mass effect 3 Dream Sequence

I recently started playing Mass Effect 3 again, and i again have a problem i had before.

At the first Dream Sequence.... where you run after that annoying kid in a dream, i get a crash.

Basicly, right after the dream, Shephard wakes up and the game freezes. Immediately i get a pop-up that says ME3 has stopped working.

I know that this question has been asked before at (https://answers.ea.com/t5/Mass-Effect-3/Mass-Effect-3-keeps-crashing/td-p/505400)

but the solution presented there is for AMD Videocard users. I use Nvidia.

I cannot seem to get rid of the problem, after using a few tricks that others tried like turning Origin offline.

Does anyone know a solution for this, that works with Nvidia cards, rather than AMD?

    Do you use any mods?

Make sure Origin is completely closed > Go to your "Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect 3\BIOGame" (full path: C:\Users\>your user name<\Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect 3\BIOGame") folder and move the "Config" folder to the desktop. > test the game

If that don't works, preform a clean boot and test the Game afterwards.

I moved your post to the Mass Effect 3 section.

Try to repair the game. (in Origin > Game Library > right click ME3 > Repair)

If that don't works, create a DxDiag in text file format, also go to your Reliability monitor (Press the windows key and "R" at the same time and copy or type "perfmon /rel" (without the quotes) in > ENTER and look if it has ME3 entries.

If yes double click at the last one, copy it to the clipboard, (Bottom left corner) save it to a text file and load it up together with the DxDiag.

You can do that with the "Browse" button at the bottom right corner of the reply window.

Thank you for your swift reply.

Repairing the game did not work, so here are the two .txt files

PS: I am Dutch, so the .txt file for the reliability monitor was in Dutch. I translated everything (hopefully i did so correctly)

    That is a "Clevo P65_67HSHP"?

If so please go to your Nvidia control panel > Manage 3D settings > Program Settings > Go to "Mass Effect 3" and make sure that the "High performance Nvidia processor" is selected for the game.

It was one of the first things i checked, and was already set to the High Performance Nvidia processor.

I just did a full re-install of the game, yet the problem is still there.

I'm running out of options (and out of patience for this game 🙂

    WITCHCRAFT!

I moved the Config folder to Desktop and it worked.

I'm not sure what kind of wizardry this is, but i'll take it.

Thank you for this! You are a scholar and a gentleman/woman.

  • Years later and this bug is still resolved through the suggestion of moving the config file. Thank you for unblocking me! I was stuck last night and glad this did the trick.
