Mass Effect 3 Huge Update [PC]?

Hi

I have had Mass Effect 3 for ages with no real problems on the Origin front. However, I had to reformat my PC. I did backups of my save files and my DLC folder, and after doing a fresh install of Windows then the Game from my DVD and replacing my backups where they belonged, it did a small update (1.04 patch I believe) and the game was fired up and good to go.

After restarting my PC, I fired up Origin again, only to find that it was downloading over a 4GB (4 277,83MB) update. 😕mileysurprised: I do not know why it is doing this. If I cancel it, the game runs fine. All my DLC are there (6+GB), multiplayer runs fine, and no real problems from a quick play through.

Could someone please help me with this? I live in South Africa and have a cap on my Bandwidth and this update would allmost kill what is left of it. Hope someone might know what this is for or how to stop it from launching each time. I still want to keep my games and Origin up to date with regular patches, so turning those options off would not be too helpful.

Thanks in advance. 😕mileyhappy:

  • All my directories had the DLC's listed. Thing is, it used to work fine on first install. It did the patch update and that was it. Origin just decided about 2 days later that my game needed this "update".

I just had to go through with the update. Luckily it is the end of the month. Thing is, I checked my game before and after the update, and nothing changed. The directory is still the exact same size. 😕mileyfrustrated:

I have no clue what it did. Next time, I will backup the entire game to see if I can bypass this mess so it does not happen again.

Thanks for trying to help, kuvuplan. 😕mileyvery-happy:

I'm guessing, that Origin is detecting missing files (like the install files or something) and thinks all of your DLC is missing.

You can try to check for those directories and listing files.

I'm guessing these are the directories to be concerned with:

    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Mass Effect 3\BIOGame\DLC"

    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Mass Effect 3\BIOGame\DLC\_metadata"

Another option, it is the end of the month, can you get your 4GB download over with today, and start a fresh month tomorrow?
