Have you followed the advice posted in the thread you linked to? While the game client is different, you can also repair the game in the new EA app.
Posting a DxDiag file, as suggested by Holger in that thread, can give us a clue about what's causing the crashes. https://help.ea.com/en/article/how-to-gather-dxdiag-information/

Tried repairing, but that didn't work, so then I tried uninstall/reinstall of Mass Effect 3. Sadly, that didn't work either. ☹️
Here is a dxdiag from today.

- Follow this manual to the letter to cleanly uninstall all NVIDIA components.
- Install the graphics driver and GFE. > Go online.
- Test.

Restarted in Safe Mode
Ran DDU while in Safe Mode
Restarted in Normal mode
Reinstalled Geforce driver
Gee, it seems I'm doing more troubleshooting than actually playing lately, but at least I can get through the sentry turret now.
