Mass Effect Andromeda

SUBJECT:  MASS EFFECT ANDROMEDA

I have two questions.  I own all of the Mass Effect games with the exception of Anthem, which I won't buy because it is a multiplayer game.

However, I am quite fond of Mass Effect Andromeda.  I have approached Bioware with the following two questions and received a canned, general response that didn't come anywhere near answering them.

Why hasn't Bioware/EA finished Mass Effect Andromeda?  All the alien allies are exactly the same model.  There was discussion about a Quarian DLC which was never produced, plus many other inconsistencies and huge story line holes.  Clearly, Bioware/EA abandoned Andromeda for an Anthem product, which was not well received.

So, my second question is why hasn't a completed Mass Effect Andromeda been included in the upcoming Mass Effect Legacy collection?

I would appreciate a reasonable, specific answer to these questions.

This is a player help player board, so you will not get an official reaction from BioWare here.

I can't speak for BioWare nor for EA, but Andromeda was most likely abandoned because the game was not received well at all.

There was a huge hate train against the game after release and as a result of that it under-performed in sales.

Because the Legendary Edition was never about Andromeda. It is a remaster of the 7 to 13 years old Mass Effect trilogy.

  • I mean, even if they were working on it right now, they wouldn't be able to tell just yet. They have announced they are working in a mass effect game, they just haven't specified which one. People like me, who enjoy the original trilogy but also liked Andromeda, can only wish they actually continue with that story.

And as far as I know, is not that they abandoned Andromeda in favour of Anthem: just like with Dragon Age, different teams were working on each title. If anything, the extremely bad reviews after launch made EA think maybe it wasn't worth the hassle, and that's why they might have cancelled The Quarian DLC.

If you want  to know what happened with the Quarian Arc, you can try to get "Annihilation", a book that narrates what happened to it prior to Ryder finding them.

    . . . What a glaring flaw. It's too bad.

Videogames appeal more to Motion Minded people. Books Appeal more to Written Minded people.
No matter how much a Gamer loves a videogame; they might not be willing to pick up materials that are in book format.
Likewise, Bookworms may be interested in a game - but might not play it. They'll instead watch others play it; or stick to books based on games their friends enjoy.

I'll have to rely on word of mouth as to what the Quarian book was like because I won't have the attention span to sit through reading it. If I broke it up into small pieces, I'd probably just forget what happened in different chapters. (As Ironic as it is that I'm typing this in written format - This is more a social interaction than a singular reading one, imo. I guess this is why Book Clubs are a thing? Or were... are those still a thing... )

People are missing out on the Quarian's story in all directions. </3

I get what you mean, I was lucky enough to be able to enjoy both games and books, but not everyone can do that. It's a shame, cause the quarian arc story seemed so promising
