Mass effect Crashing on character creation screen.

Ok so i can load up mass effect all the way to the character creation screen but it then crashes, so in short i can't even start playing the game. 

What i tried:

Windows xp service pack 3

Run as adim

check to see if on version 1.02 

Uninstalled Plays.TV  

 I could use some help as my jimmies are getting rustled truly 

(Fixed the sneaky Plays.TV survived an uninstall)

    I don't have play TV installed and I just had this problem. 

    Holy * I'm sick of ea and their *. 

    Nothing * works on origin.
