Mass Effect LE ME2 launcher crash.

Hey,

So MELE played great through ME1, and everything was working just as great through ME2, and I was nearing the last few gameplay hours before finishing.  When I was starting Tali's loyalty mission, I go to save and my system said my C drive was full.  After this alert I tried to delete some saves to make room, but the game froze up and I had to force it closed.

Now I'm a bit confused why it happened this way because I have 2 separate drives, C and K.  K is where my games are downloaded to, and that one has enough space left so that shouldn't be a problem. But I cleared some space in C drive as well and tried to relaunch ME2, but it now crashes during the launcher.

I have done every possible fix I could crawling through multiple threads and trying everything suggested.  I had to uninstall my AMD and drivers because it wouldn't open (an AMD bug that I was able to get fixed) and reinstall it, and now that works great. I've done the check files thing in steam and in origin, updated drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled the game.  Nothing will get ME2 to launch now.  I've checked both ME1 and 3 in the LE launcher and those 2 still launch fine, but no matter which way I try ME2 will not launch at all.  I am really frustrated because I just want to finish ME2 so I can start ME3 and I am so stinking close! Please help!!!

@Kevo_B-WingAce  The typical path for Steam installs is:

Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Mass Effect Legendary Edition [etc.]

If you selected a custom install location, look there instead.  Wherever the game is located, its program files should be the same.  And the structure of the user files in Documents is the same as well.

  • @Kevo_B-WingAce  Please open this file path:

    Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Mass Effect Legendary Edition\Game\ME2\BioGame

and move the Config folder to the desktop.  Then try to play ME2.

If that doesn't help, move your most recent ME2 save out of the Saves folder; it's stored here:

Doccuments\Bioware\Mass Effect Legendary Edition\Save\ME2\[character name and number]

You can also try moving the entire ME2 folder to the desktop to see whether it's possible to start a new save; you might then be able to move one of your current saves back and get it to load.

If that doesn't help either, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

Hey sorry I guess I didn't specify like I thought I did, I have MELE on Steam, so my origin folder doesn't have the MELE files.  I tried looking for something in the Steam files similar to that but I cant find the saved games folder or the config folder for individual games.

Thank you so much!!! I had to move the entire me2 folder out to get it to work but at least I can finally get me2 going again!  I haven’t had a chance to try and move old saves back in after starting a new separate game but I’ll be trying that soon. Itll kinda suck if I have to start me2 all over again when I was so close to finishing but that’s way better than not being able to play it again at all! Thank you very much for your help!
