I have the same or similar issue (the error message is that Windows does not recognize what app to launch the game with) since the jan-18th after an update was installed so you're not alone 🙂
I only got the update notice today and had not idea that I shouldn’t install it. Now it won’t launch at all. It’s on my Steamdeck and I’m having trouble using desktop mode to try to reinstall Origin or whatever might work. 😥

So now we are all fooled again by EA, Origin officially stopped to work, and MELE isn't woks with EA app as expected. Was never asking for any EA/Origin or any other app which isn't related to the actual game I bought. If that is bad experience, definitely it is, if I will bought something from EA is the future, it's a big NO. It's a reoccurring issue, happen at huge number of customers, which isn't tread at all. First rule for each developer, don't broke something that worked, old satisficed customer will return, but u did it.

Is it still the launcher that is not opening or do you have a different problem now?
- 3 years ago@holger1405 Same issue as before, EA is reopening and nothing happens. After some time digging found another solution to remove opening of Launcher with Admin privilege which actually works for now, till new 'feature' will be delivered by EA.
