Glad to hear that Mass Effect 1 is coming to the PS3 via the Trilogy. I have two questions I was hopin to get answered:
1/ Will PS3 owners be able to purchase ME1 by itself or will it be ony available in the Trilogy pack?
2/ I was wondering if there was going to be an option to import your Sheppard from previous games? At very least, just the phsyical characteristcs and back story of Sheppard.

1- You will be able to download Mass Effect 1 only on the PSN.
2- I'm not sure of this, but I would say no just because you can't import a savegame from a new game on an old game (Like you can't import ME3 save on ME2).

i think the ps3 version off mass effect trilogy will suffer from a downgrade because when mass effect 2 was released bioware said there mass effect will not come out to the ps3 so mass effect 2 already have the choices from the first game unless they launch a patch or change the game i don't see any other way to make this right propely work without bugs.
