ME1 won't run on Origin (reclaimed an old code)

I got the ME1 platinum edition from my friends like eight years ago and I wanted to use the code on Origin, which surprisingly worked. However, the game won't launch. It only does the cloud sync, then nothing. I have tried to follow some of the solutions on here (Windows updates, running as admin, Windows XP compatibility mode) but nothing really helped. I am a total PC noob and have no idea what more can I do. If anyone could offer any solutions, I would be delighted...

    Did you repaired the game?

(in Origin > Game Library > right click ME > Repair)

    If that don't helps:

If you have "Origin in Game" enabled, disable it > test.

(Origin menu > Application settings > Origin In-Game > Enable Origin In-Game > Off (Gray)

    If that also don't helps:

    • Turn off "Cloud storage" in Origin.
(Origin menu > Origin > Application Settings > Install & Saves > Cloud storage > Off (Grey)
    • If you use Steam you don't have to do anything, unless you have added Mass Effect manually to Streams cloud save function.
    • Make sure Origin or Steam are closed.
    • Go to your "Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect" folder and move the "Save" folder and the "Config" folder to your desktop. > Test.

Please create a DxDiag in text file format and post it with your next reply.

If you use Windows 7 also go to your Reliability monitor > Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time and copy and paste or type "perfmon /rel" (without the quotes) in the new Window > hit “ENTER” and look if it has entries for the game you have trouble with.

If yes double click at the last entry for the game executable, copy the info to the clipboard, and save it to a text file.

You can attach the DxDiag text file you created (and the “Reliability monitor” text file as well) to your post in the “Reply” window with the “Choose File” button.

  • That last thing worked! You are now my favourite support on the Citadel, thank you so much 🙂
