ME2 Freezes During Start Menu and Opening Cutscene

I have been trying to get ME2 to work, and it's the only game I have tested, but if I spend some time trying to mess with my options, the game freezes and I can't do anything on my pc without a restart. The same happens when I manage to start the cutscenes cause I can't get past the black screen after the ship attack without it freezing up. And for some reason the X button on my xbox one controller is treated like the a button while the a button does nothing. Any fixes for this?
