ME2 Unwanted Skipping of Movies
I know there are plenty of players that want to skip the opening scenes, but I'm not one of those.
What's happening -
I start a new playthrough and import character. (It also happens with a brand new non-import, too.) I get the TIM and Miranda conversation, but it cuts off the first vid (ME2_Opening_SunMid_INT). After their conversation, it then skips over the Collector attack on the Normandy (Opening_Seq_INT) and goes straight to whichever ME1 squad mate is running through the Normandy to Shepard's location. I'm not sure how many other movies are affected outside of the opening attack because I haven't wanted to dive into the game if it's going to be skipping half the cut scenes.
What I've tried -
Vanilla'd the game. Ran update via Origin. Repaired via Origin. When those failed, completely uninstalled the game and reinstalled only the base game without any DLC with all default settings. Run as Administrator in Compatibility mode for Windows 7.
Possibly related? I recently updated to Windows 10 and when I first started ME2, found that my central speaker and subwoofer weren't working. This, after having played through ME1 with them working fine. Now, neither one responds to testing or configuration. The solution I found here in another thread was to set sound to 'stereo' instead of surround, which enabled me to be able to hear conversations without them being to quiet or sound like they were in a tin can. I'm wondering if the cut scenes being skipped are somehow being affected by the sound issue and that is why they are skipping?
Really hoping that someone will be able to tell me I'm an idiot and can fix it by doing x, y, z without a huge pain in the rear. : /

Well, hopefully this information will help someone else if they find themselves in the same situation.
I've figured out a 'fix' for the issue, although I'm not sure I consider it solved because the fix requires play in Windowed mode with no boarders instead of full screen. After messing around for the last day or so with files, I realized that the only scenes affected were the actual movie scenes from BioGame/Movies. For every one of them to be skipping, I thought it must be something the new windows introduced that was interfering with regular play and started adjusting settings until something worked. Thought I'd pass the information along for anyone else having the same problem.
I didn't bother checking regular windowed mode.
