Me3 bug or unplanned error?

Normally I wouldnt post this for such an old game but this might affect the legendary edition remaster so I'm hoping this gets picked up and fixed :D

So i started a new ME3 run and slowly ran my way through mars, it looks like I have to restart the whole mission (i didnt save ☹️ ) because of the weapon I have equipped. I believe it's called the Acolypte, it's a pistol thing that charges up and shoots like a grenade launcher.

I got tot he part where Dr Eva is attempting to escape and you have that slow motion scene where you have to shoot her dead before she reaches you. Problem is my pistol has to charge up, After about a dozen attempts I have figured out the exact time it takes me to shoot my first shot and dr eva goes flying backwards which gives me hope that I have time to kill her. Then she executes me. At best i can squeeze a 2nd shot last second but it seems i need 3 shots with this gun to kill her.

The problem seems to lie in the slow motion scene lasting a fixed time so even if my gun knocks her super far back she will still enter the cutscene while she is stunned and stab me. Because of this limitation I will have to restart and keep the default pistol just because the interaction doesnt appear to have been designed with the acolyte being used so early in the game. I attached a clip from xbox, hoping it works 🙂

How do you even get access to the Acolyte for this mission? Hmmm, is it automatically available at the first weapons load weapon station with the DLC? Every game I've just had the Predator. And I had assumed it defaulted to that no matter what you carried, LOL!

Anyway, pro-tip: carry a different heavy pistol 🙂
  • Yeah i had to change back to the basic pistol. I think because I own dlc i got the gun early? Or maybe i just unlocked it in my previosu playthrough.
I was able to equip it because during the mission you find weapons on the ground and you get the option to change your loadout. In that loadout screen i switched the default pistol for the acolyte and didnt think anything of it until i got to the end and just couldn't take dr eva down

  • I know about this.

You do need a weapon that fires sufficiently rapidly or Dr Coré will give you a kicking.

I make a habit of dropping a hard save before entering the room with the artefacts and prepping & loading my pistol, but I had to replay Mars many years ago for just this reason.

More of an unplanned 'feature' than a bug but clearly it does catch people out (as it did me).
