ME5 New enemies essential or not?
So someone was talking about their fave games and mentioned that ME2 was great for X, Y, Z reasons but also because they added a new enemy and we didnt just fight the geth again. I thought for a second and realised that every single ME game added a new enemy.
ME1 had geth, ME2 added collectors, ME3 added reapers and cerberus.
MEA added the Kett, the robots who i forget the name of, was it remnant? and then they had what i will refer to as 'pirates' which was like, a gang of every other race doing illegal activities.
I never put too much thought into it before but each game maintains the same ME formula while shaking up the story, the crew, the locations you visit and the enemies to keep each game fresh. The 4 pillars supporting each game essentially.
We dont know much yet of course, but it appears to be somehow connecting the two galaxies so for the sake of this thread I would like for us all to assume that a relay connects the two galaxies and all existing races are present.
1) Do you think Bioware will stick to tradition and bring a new enemy (or more)?
2) Assuming there is a new enemy, were there any hints in andromeda of what it might be? ME1 and 2 both had mentions to cerberus/reapers/protheans so the enemies introduced in ME2 and ME3 were already hinted, did Andromeda hint any i cant remember?
3) If they dont add a new enemy faction, will this make the game less interesting to you, or will you be fine with existing threats/races?
4) Is it important for you that a new enemy is present in every game or are you happy with the Kett or another existing race (rachni, krogan, Geth ect) taking the spotlight because you focus on other parts of the game for enjoyment?
Existing/Past threats:
Collectors and reapers are presumably gone but could be brought back in multiplayer because they are fun gameplay variety and the multiplayer doesnt have to be considered 'canon'.
Geth should be friendly if they werent all destroyed so unless there is another rebel faction worshiping the old ones i cant see them being enemies.
Cerberus should be long dead unless it gets reimagined into a new form over hundreds of years, basically giving an excuse to have a new rebel faction of humans (and/or other races) or basically just an official/organised form of pirates.
We know the Kett at least are still around but they arent new.
The creators of the remnant could return but i feel like they would be very technological and would just overlap with or update the existing remnant so that wouldnt count as new right?
Rachni could have built up in this time but as long as the queens peaceful song is still present we shouldnt need to fight them, would be interesting seeing their ships or seeing one walk around the communal area.
Krogan could be a huge empire after 600 years especially with the other races weakened so maybe they have a small faction rebelling but unlikely, would be undoing progress.
