Might help with crashing - Manage your saves

For those crashing, regardless of how, this could help and is worth a shot. I've had issues in the past with crashing with certain versions while other versions seemed to be fine. In the past I've had issues with Andromeda crashing both on my laptop and desktop at the same time while previous runs never crashed at all. All reps from EA basically said it was just me because no one else was having these issues.

Recently I was playing Witcher 2 and (in the 3rd playthru) had similar crashing issues and went to the forums to see if anyone else was having the same issues and it seemed that the game, while absolutely wonderful, was plagued with a saving problem - it would autosave frequently and quicksaves would stack instead of deleting previous ones. This means lots and LOTS of saves which can inevitably make a save game folder nearly or more than 1GB. That is pretty much unacceptable in my book. Anyway, this seemed to be the cause of other players' game crashes. I wiped most saves and it seemed to mostly fix the problem.

Fast forward a bit to today. I went out of town on a job and brought my laptop and was bored so I thought, hey I'll play some Andromeda. Well, once again I'm crashing during gameplay after only a minute or two. When it crashes the game there's a Windows "ding" and everything freezes. If not addressed quickly a hard reboot is required. I go to the EA-Andromeda forums once again to see if something is going on that I need to know about. Nothing. One last idea before uninstalling and saying "bye bye", I wiped nearly all the saves (wow it was bloated) and start a new game. So far I've gone >10 times as long as before without crashing. It might not be a fix for some, but it might be worth a try. If it doesn't help then oh well, you tried.

Okay nevermind, it eventually crashed again though after about 30 minutes of play. At this point I'm blaming the Fall Update for Windows 10. I've not heard anything good of it and only bad. Seems others can't play certain games after this update. Regardless, we have to either live with it or slice our own wrists. No one is coming to save us. Good luck to us all.
  • @Fyrebanex; I've been playing for hours at a stretch even after updating to the Win10 CE (aka v1709).  Don't have any problems (except the same thing that's always been there: a little bit of stutter when first returning from the fade-to-black upon entering a new map area.)

Playing on my desktop I will crash but I can play for hours between crashes. On my laptop I only have like 5 minutes. I started a new game and it was around 30 minutes till it crashed. Yea my laptop is weaker, but it's not a base model. Regardless, it still crashes. When I was playing on Windows 7 I never had this issue.
