Most disliked location
Hoping this doesn't attract a bunch of negativity but as I play through the series I was curious, are there are any locations you just hate in general? Across the trilogy there were some locations ...
It's Alchera for me...cold, lonely, quiet, depressing quest. That said the only thing I might change about it is to allow at least one squadmate.
I also very much like Havarl.
Reasons are the Quest design as Freed said, but also the planet itself, the atmosphere and look.
It is not easy to navigate sometimes, but that is a problem whit the markers and map and not a problem of the location.
I also never encountered any glitches offside the main path, and I almost never used the main path.
My least forsterite location in all Mass Effect games is Canalus from the ME2 N7: Anomalous Weather Detected quest.
Oh, I quite liked Alchera. Had the introspective solitude that walking the remains of the ship, and place where Shepard hit the dirt, should have. In my opinion.
The picking up the tags did feel a little more like making sure the player went around the area and saw the environment that the designers put together (and honestly, fair enough).
I would have loved the memorial to be not the awful baked copper colour haha
I ran in circles on Ilos, in the part before you get the gates open for the Mako. I'm not sure if I'm mad at the environment or at myself, though.
Least favourite levels are the ones where it's basically 'drive Mako in unidirectional path and shoot at big rocket friends'. The Overlord DLC where you could at least glide around nonlinearly-ish with the Hammerhead was pretty rad.
I generally had a lot of fun playing these games, and I'm having a ball getting back to them with LE. I suppose the thing that stands out the most is 'waist height cover' syndrome. I know mechanically it's useful for players, but the big ol rocks just felt like they could have been left in ME1. The places where you're using seating, balustrades, shelves etc, as cover feel a lot more integrated.
It's super nit picky, but on a first play through, it would be cool (or awful, ymmv) to enter a space and not have a big glaring hint that an enemy is going to shoot at you 😛
