I might ending up defending the MELE here after all, despite the fact that I see problems with it as well. 😉

But since you mentioned you've been here for eight years - I'd also like to point out that MELE's state is not BioWare's only misstep.
What state?
That this games are in some kind of "bad state" is a purely subjective opinion and an opinion that is obviously not shared by the majority of the fan base.
For me they are rock stable. I did not encounter any serious bug or glitch apart from the FPS inconsistency in ME1. And even that wasn't a real problem because I did not get shuttering because if it.
So as said, I think they could have and should have done more, but I disagree with the notion that the MELE is in some kind of bad state overall.

Yes, I even think that ME3 had elements that really did not fit the trilogy - for example, heavily relying on B-movie tropes, like Kai Leng's every stupid scene (how insultingly moronic Thane is in his scene against him, or how annoyingly useless Shepard is in every cutscene featuring him... and just what an utterly boring villain he is!), or the forced tension between the Virmire survivor and Shepard that magically ceases to exist once aboard the Normandy etc... Or you know, throwing in some randomass kid to personalise Shepard's PTSD? Nobody cares, the player has no connection to him, nor does Shepard. It's some forced BS, and it's neglecting Shepard's actual personal losses. And these are actual problems with story and character writing, which they are supposed to be known for.
This is, again, purely subjective criticism.
You have every right to see it that way of course, but it is a matter of opinion, not some kind of fact that makes the game or the story bad by definition.

Their latest major games were failures, and toxicity aside, deservedly so. They are games that you can "have some fun with" at their best, and extremely boring at their worst.
I agree in regards to Anthem.
Not that they couldn't have made it something good. The combat was extremely good imho and there were more things that were very solid.
But that ship has sailed.
But I disagree about Andromeda.
Imho Andromeda is a good game that was killed by a typical internet shitstorm, something it didn't deserve.

And now that they had a second chance to polish these out, what did they do? Slightly pumped up the textures. The inexpertise is not the worst part in itself (though I'd say they desperately need to hire new talent), but the clear signs of "yea we did not even try" are not acceptable.
They did way more than just "Slightly pumped up the textures", it is easy to overlook that if you focus on the problems, but it is nevertheless true.
