no advanced weapon training in disabled collector ship

On the disabled collector ship mission, I can't pick up any weapon training or special weapons. I was able to do so on previous runs, but not this new one. It is not a New Game+ save and I never had this issue before. What is wrong with my game? Is this a known bug? What's the fix?
