"Origin Has Stopped Working" during Mass Effect 3 causing freezes

I've had this problem for about two or three weeks now and I believe it started the last time Origin updated itself. I start Mass Effect 3 and everything is fine. I'm playing the game and about three or four minutes into it, I get a pop up message telling me Origin has stopped working. I click OK and because you can't play Mass Effect 3 without Origin, Mass Effect 3 freezes and I have to ctrl+alt+delete to get out of it. But that's not all. Sometimes I'll click play for Mass Effect 3 and during the logo video the Origin has stopped working message pops up. And the thing that makes me mad the most is that sometimes everything works fine. There are brief moments where everything works as it should, but those moments are few and far between. I've checked my drivers, reinstalled Origin, repair installed Mass Effect 3 (there was nothing wrong), and I've googled the hell out of my problem, but all the solved problems on the Internet are too old to be related to mine. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm running Windows 8 64-Bit with a Nvidia GeForce GTX 680M. I've checked my firewalls and antivirus and things like that already, so please don't suggest I do that. And yes, I still have the problem with Origin In Game disabled.

When Origin is running fine in safe mode with networking enabled that means a third party application is blocking it. Below is the copy of our article about Programs that may cause conflicts with Origin for more information:

If you’ve experienced connection issues after updating Origin, you may need to reconfigure your antivirus or firewall settings. Improperly configured settings can result in a situation where Origin is unable to update properly, blocking users from accessing our service.

These conflicts typically manifest in one of two ways:
Difficulty establishing a connection to Origin
Inability to download, install, or play games
    Difficulty using the Origin Store

Luckily, there are two very simple and common solutions to these problems:

    1. Give Origin permission to update.
Adding Origin to your security program’s “safe” or “allowed” list will usually resolve any connectivity problems that you’re having. Consult your individual program’s software manual, FAQ, or help site for details on how to configure your safe list. 2. Close background programs before running Origin. Disabling your security software can instantly cure connectivity issues, but it can also leave you open to actual threats. If you opt to turn off your antivirus or firewall program, be sure to re-enable it when you’re done using Origin. 3. Disabling add-ons/extensions/plug-ins before running Origin or accessing the Origin store. Disabling certain add-ons/extensions/plug-ins that may be interfering with the Origin Store can allow you to continue using the store with less difficulty. You may also wish to try right clicking on the page and selecting "Allow Origin" as this can by-pass some issues. If that doesn't work, you may with to disable them, and re-enable them once finished. Below is a list of programs that may cause interference with Origin updates. Please note that this is not an exhaustive list. Anti-Virus Programs Avast! AVG Anti-virus BitDefender Kaspersky Anti-virus McAfee Anti-virus Nod32 Anti-virus Norton/Symantec Anti-virus Panda Anti-virus Trend Micro Anti-Spyware Programs Ad Aware Spybot Search & Destroy Spycatcher Express Webroot Spy Sweeper Firewall/Security Programs Comodo McAfee Personal Firewall Panda Internet Security Zone Alarm Online Armor Add-ons/Extensions/Plug-ins AdBlock Plus No-Script

Have you tried in Safe Mode?

If it starts then (and doesn't stop), you can look though your start up programs (msconfig), also, look in add/remove programs as well as your browser's addon's/plugins/extensions...

Google anything you're not sure of as well...

One day I couldn't load anything and while I could load on one of my computers, the other one wouldn't load games... I went to check my plugin's and I saw where Norton had added (without MY knowledge, as software will often do... had added Idenity Safe... I disabled that & problem was solved...

You'll probably have to track it down by ... I'm quite sure all the names/files in my prior post above, aren't the only ones...

  • Uninstalling AdBlock seems to have resolved all my problems. I can't believe something as simple as a browser extension could cause me so many problems. God I hate Origin. Thanks very much for your help. You adorn that "Hero" rank proudly.

  • Adding origin.exe and masseffect3.exe to Symantec Endpoint Protection's and Window's firewall exception lists still didn't solve my problem. Are there any other files I need to add?

  • I do have AdBlock Plus installed for Firefox, but how dows that affect Origin? Do I have to uninstall AdBlock to get Origin working? And why would that all of a sudden be a problem now when it wasn't before?
