Paramour II and insanity II not awarded

Paramour II and insanity II achievement not unlocking on series X.  Romance Liara in Mass Effect 1 and Tali in Mass Effect 2.

  • Still completely messed up in the current game build. In my understanding, this should not be game-specific (as in Paramour I = ME1 etc.), so in theory, I should have been able to get Paramour II in ME3.

    In my playthrough, Shepard stayed loyal to Liara, so ME2 granted nothing - which is total nonsense, intentional or not -, and then ME3 also granted nothing. I even made an alternate save route where Shepard got together with Kaidan, still nothing.

    Since Liara woud be the only squadmate who could in fact grant all three achievements in a single trilogy playthrough with a loyal Shepard, and she's also available to both genders, it should have been a no-brainer to include her romance reunion scene as part of the Paramour achievement.

    @felker_s It appears to be a script problem, that much is being suspected in the Paramour 3 Achievement/Trophy post.

    I got the Insanity 3 normally but because you can't get the Paramour trophy with Reminesing with Liara if she was your LI in ME1 (there was a similar one on the Legacy Edition which unlocked her Stasis power for Shepard), or even get a moment to reunite with the VS if they are your LI to have a similar moment, I had to resort in the 360 to romancing Tali post Collector Base and that unlocked my achievement (I reloaded a save before the deed and told her qe should be friends). In the LE there appears to be a script problem present in all three games that is hampering the Insanity and Paramour trophies.

    @draconiam

    I cheesed out Insanity II - III by beating Saren three more times (pre-patch), lol. What's interesting is that even that way - as you can guess from the additional three instances instead of two -, it did not ALWAYS work.

    I actually played the other two games on Insanity as well, so I didn't feel bad about cheating my way through a broken system... Unfortunately, I had no pre-Ilos save to do the same with Paramour.

  • I just played through ME2 on insanity. The achievement didn't pop. Doesn't anyone know why or how to fix it? I'm going to replay the final mission again to see if it'll work tonight. I hate the idea of replaying ME2 on insanity again because of it. Do we know if it was because I switched the difficulty during the Normandy attack in the beginning and not have it set in the very start?

    @DarkWarSoldier That might be it although you can only set Insanity at the very start when the ship.is being attacked, the same issue with ME3. You have to double check when you get control of Shepard that the difficulty isn't in Casual and is on Insanity as that likes to switch from you are starting a new career to when the game starts.

    @draconiam

    In all three games, you can set the game to Insanity from the main menu's settings, and then you set it again when launching your new career. I've never had any problems this way.

    Making sure that your game launched on your desired difficulty never hurts of course, that's exactly how I know that I've never encountered this issue.

    Edit: Then again, the achievement still did not pop at the end of ME2, so... Nobody knows where the real issue lies. The fix they released only made sure that you cannot cheese the achievements by redoing the Saren fight, but did not actually solve the bug.

    @felker_s That's what the Bioware patches are for, to make sure you can't play the game like you want because their way is broken.
  • @felker_sI would be so mad if that's why it didn't work. I just changed the difficulty from hard-core to insanity as soon as I got control of Shepard. I did the same thing in ME1 and worked. So I was thinking it worked the same way in ME2. I would hate to replay it again because of something like that.
