PC Black screen issue. I would like a refund please

I'm having the widely reported black screen issue on the PC version of the game. For those who don't know When you load the game in full screen mode the picture doesn't display, you just get a black screen. Only way to get round this is to play the game in windowed mode which really sucks.

I only started getting this issue a couple of weeks ago after the latest game update. I update the nvidia game drivers to latest version with clean install but this didn't fix the issue.

I have tried i think all suggested ways to fix this known issue but unfortunately none have worked for me. I don't have the corsair utility app installed. i did have the Corsair link 4 software installed so i uninstalled that and all corsair applications. This didn't resolve the issue.

I have tried the clean boot method into windows, the bug still existed. I have tried repairing the game, updating the game still nothing works so I am left unable to play the game. Windowed mode does work and the game display correctly but i don't want to see my wall paper and windows task bar when I'm playing the game, it detracks from the experience and ruins the immersing feeling that full screen mode offers.

PC specs: Win 10 64 bit

Intel 5820K

Asus X99-M work station

32gb Ram

MSI 980Ti

I put a ticket on the EA error reporter system stating all the above.

As there appears to be no solution presenting itself i would like to know how i go about requesting a refund and deactivating my game key and removing the game form my origin account.

Please can someone point me in the right direction for EA's official route to begin this process. I'm not prepared to spend £40 on a game that simply doesn't work in this day and age. Its a shame as i was enjoying the game for the month or so it worked properly.

    Have you tried the following?

    Refresh Rate fix:

    Launch Nvidia Control panel

Go to Display > Change Resolution

Change the drop down for refresh rate to 59hz

    Click Apply button.

Change the drop down for refresh rate to 60hz

    Click Apply button.

    Note:

Some users have reported other settings for refresh rate that have worked for them, just make sure any refresh rate you select is actually supported by your monitor so that you don't end up with a display issue forcing you to boot your pc in vga mode to get your display back.

    Temporary Change of resolution fix:

Some people have found that setting their actual screen resolution to another resolution then setting it back to the resolution they normally have their desktop set to has fixed this problem for them personally.

  • Have you tried killing Creators Update Game mode and turning off fullscreen optimisations for MassEffectAndromeda.exe?

OMG! changing the windows resolution then changing it back worked!

My monitor doesnt seem to support any other refresh rate. Only option available was 60hz

Even if its only temp fix it will do for now. Cheers dude :D

No no the fix should hold, the implication in the fix was only that you had to temporarily change your resolution to something else and then back again.

I tend to collect fixes together in my onenote for games i play regularly, so i'm glad one of my notes helped on this occasion.

From one avid gamer to another.. welcome back to the initiative 😉

    Woo-hoo !! :eahigh_file:

Thank you so much !!! For me too, changing my native screen resolution to another resolution then changing it back solved this issue ! I was desperate, I tried several "fixes" but none worked, then with this simple action it was settled...

    Again, thank you !

  • this fixed worked for me, my problem is that i can't run the game at fullscreen, but I can run it on bordless full screen
