[PC] Can the ME3 Steam DLC Pack work for Origin version of ME3?

Hello, hope everyone is happy at home during the lockdown 🙂

Glad Mass effect 3 and other Origin games are now available on Steam, it's definitely given me some ideas on how to fill my time between working however I have a problem:

I'd already bought the deluxe edition on Origin but I never got around to buying the Omega and Citadel DLC packs on PC so when I saw they were available on Steam for a discount, I bought them.

However, as you can see in the attachments, it seems I need to download them on steam to use them on the Origin Mass Effect 3 (understandable, duh) but because I don't own Mass Effect 3 on Steam I can't download the DLC as it requires the base game to download.

Obviously Origin detects that I own the DLC pack as the screenshots prove, is there not a way the DLC can just be activated on Origin so it can be used for the Origin version of ME3 which I own or will I have to purchase Mass Effect 3 again on Steam to use this DLC (which opens Origin to run anyway... and currently has a performance issue that the Origin has a workaround for)

Any help would be appreciated!

Additional context: I was actually willing to bite the bullet and buy Mass Effect 3 on steam just to have all ME games in one place but then the performance issues came to light so I returned it as I thought there was no reason to buy it again if it ran worse. I still have the DLC pack though, hence my question.

Edit: Changed the title for clarity.

  • No. I'm in the same boat you are. I had to refund because the steam version was sold broken. When I refunded, it still claims that the DLC is on steam. I can't even redownload Mass Effect 3 Digital Deluxe the base game because of this. All that can be done is contact EA support and hope that they actually help.

The only advise I can give you itm is to ask for a refund for the DLCs on Steam.

Is the game still running on Origin?

Hey, I haven't reinstalled the Origin version yet but it is visible in my library still and was distinct from the steam version that appeared there the short time I owned it so I assume it is working.

That's a shame... not really a true linked market then if I have to buy additions on Origins. I'll request the refund and just put off playing it for a while I've never seen the DLC discounted on Origin so I thought I'd struck gold and finally put aside some time to play it.

That's a damn shame, I'll refund it and hope I don't get the same problem as you... I'll try and re-download the game on origin as well. Aw geez, all I wanted to do was save some money!

    Thanks for responding

  • Really frustrated that this is apparently not able to work... all I did was buy the DLC in a different game shop that I bought the game from, it's not like one is on a console or anything it's the same platform, PC.

Oh well. Thanks for the responses guys, thanks for the peace of mind. I'll probably just refund the DLC and play another game for now kinda taken the wind out of my sails. ☹️

Has the DLC bundle a separate entry in the Steam library? (Or can you find a key inside the game for the bundle.)

If so right click the bundel/game in Steam > Manage > CD keys. > If you find a key, try to redeem it in Origin.
