[PC] Mass Effect 3 play button greyed out

win10, me3 deluxe edition, updated origin.

This started happening today randomly right in the middle of my playthrough of the game. The play button in the Origin menu is greyed out and no matter what i do, i can't get it to be interactive again. After i uninstalled the game, i also had trouble getting it to download again as well as there was no download button either. I had to go into the extra content tab and download some DLC to get it to start downloading the main game.

I've reinstalled Origin, reinstalled the game itself, cleared the cache, removed and re-added the game to my library and restarted the pc multiple times. No effect.

The game does seem to work as expected if i manually launch it from the .exe in the install files, but that's not a workable solution for me given that i want to use a program (texmod) that requires that i start the game from inside origin to work. Besides, this whole no play/download button problem is worrisome and i'd like to fix it properly.

What do?

Try to clear your Origin cache after this guide.
All settings in Origin (only in Origin not in the games) are back to default settings after this.)

    • Close Origin completely.
(right click on the Origin symbol in the task bar > close)
    • Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time.
    • Type or copy and paste "%ProgramData%/Origin" (without quotes) into the new window > hit ENTER
    • Delete all the files and folders in the Origin folder, except for the "LocalContent" folder.
(The "LocalContent" folder must remain untouched.)
    • Move the "Mass Effect 3" folder from inside the "LocalContent" folder to your desktop.
    • Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time.
    • Type or copy and paste "%AppData%" (without quotes) into the new window > hit ENTER
    • Now your Windows explorer should have brought you to your "C:\Users\>your user name<\AppData\Roaming" folder.
    • Delete the "Origin"  folder inside the "Roaming" folder.
    • In the address bar of your Windows explorer click on "AppData".
    • Open the "Local" folder.
    • Delete the "Origin"  folder inside the  "Local" folder.
    • Restart your PC. > test.

If that don't works, preform a clean boot and test the Game in clean boot mode with deactivated virus scanner.
