I got your same issue, mate. But I can't go on with the game 'cause there's a long cutscene that can't be skipped, and the game crashes EVERY TIME while I'm watching it. Sometimes it goes a little further, but then it crashes, every time. I've tried a work-around, too, reading comments in the web, I tried setting the pagefile to 100GB, but it still crashes. I tried all kind of stuff, I ordered new RAM, but I don't think it will solve the issue.

Got a little further this time!
I even opened a door AND used the diagnostic tool! :eahigh_file:
Of course I promptly got a WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR soon afterwards, but what a rush that was!
Never got this far before!
The trick was to launch the game from the GeForce Experience panel after clicking on optimize graphics settings.
😉

^^ Microsoft says that is a hardware issue code...meaning it is something either faulty, driver is faulty, or Windows is having an issue.
considering how much trouble the last 1709 update Windows is giving my son's computer, I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't Windows itself.
(My son's computer can't recognize the Asus Wifi card ever since the update, meaning he doesn't have internet access until either they fix it, or I get tired of him begging for me do something and run a cable from one room to another through the attic.)

And too all those posting just the pure specs of their machines, it helps but not much, a DxDiag post is MUCH MUCH better for info for those trying to help....
- Anonymous8 years agoUPDATE: I went a little further, too. Seems like it was a driver issue. I had the latest driver installed, reading don't remember where, I tried to install AMD driver 17.7.2 and I had no problem at all. Now I tried to install the driver release before the latest, let's see how far I can go.

I don't know, it's just that I've paid 26 euros for a few minutes of character customization action and a bit of door opening in-game action.
And since I won't be able to get a refund* it really makes me feel cheated and deeply regret my decision to not pirate the game.
I've attached the DxDiag.txt to this post for what is worth.
So yeah, let's get our random Skinner boxes on and blindly poke in the dark by reinstalling drivers and "unpdating" Windows like it's some sort of alpha release.
Damn, this is frustrating!

UPDATE:
Got the furthest so far and actually had to close the game myself!
What did the trick for me was going in the BIOS and switching the processor settings all on auto. Left the XMP profile on, but other than that all stock all the way.
(previously I had the performance profile that came with the hardware selected, so no fancy custom OC or anything like that)
Check your dump files (it's a pain in the *) and see if you get a BugCheck 124 error somewhere as that is associated with CPU issues.
Fingers crossed it turns out to be THE solution.
L.E.:
With the game alt tabbed into the taskbar and after a serious round of playtime, I can safely say that this was indeed the fix.
