PC version: Game crash after "checking downloadable content"?

Hello,

ME3 starts normally (Press any key...), the menue-screen with the status of the galaxy is loading and then the game crash (a short time after: "download content to be check")

This error is total new, no changing on the system (updates or something else) and yesterday i can play it normally.

I used the repair-function on origin but no success... thx for help!

I also have this problem now since the update.  I managed to get into game by unplugging my internet and starting the game. I let the menu load totally, then plugged my internet in and clicked on connect to EA servers. It allowed me to continue from there, but I have only tried this a moment ago. Also, when I attempt to exit the game, it crashes.

Edit: I have tried this 3 or 4 times now and it works getting into the game and playing multiplayer. Obviously this isnt a fix, but at least we can play for now.

So, in lue of the novel I was going to post, I will keep this short.

When starting ME3, the game would freeze once it was done checking dlc.

I did some trouble shooting and found that the DLC causing this was DLC_CON_MP4, located at:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Mass Effect 3\BIOGame\DLC"

To run the single player normaly, just rename the DLC_CON_MP4 folder. (Add a Z to the end or something.)

Unfortunately, this keeps you from using anything from the Retaliation DLC in Multiplayer.

So, to use mutiplayer correctly, make sure DLC_CON_MP4 is named correctly, then start Origin.

Go to Offline Mode. Now start ME3. Get past the "Press Any Key" and wait for the game to try and connect to EA servers. As it's trying to connect, switch to Origin and go into online mode again. The game will say it can't authorize any single player DLC, but all multiplayer funtionality will be intact.

This is a dumb work around, and it needs to be fixed on the EA/Bioware level, but it beats not being able to play.

This seems to be an account level issue of some sort, as no matter what PC I use, this happens. One of the reps that helped me used my account to get in and had the same issue. My wife however, does not have this issue.

Had no problems with DLC yet, well except the one of  "you need the online pass to play from the ashes or any DLC", a bug from CEdition that everyone gets sometimes.

Tried to swich from off to on Origin while entering, but didn't work either.

Seems to be random, 90% of the times the game shuts down after conecting to EA servers, but, there's a small probability of 10% or less to get inside the game without crashing. 

Seriously, I don't want keep trying all days just to get a couple of game hours D:

yeah mine has changed on me as well.

Now I have to go offline

load the game menu

click on "connect to EA servers"  and wait for it to tell me it cant

hit SHIFT+F1 and open friends list to click on "go online"

then click on "connect to EA servers" again

THEN i can get in and play.... so stupid.

Entering to the game being offline seems the only thing that worked so far. Although the first time I tried didn't work. I had to disconnect internet to make it work.

I Hope EA solves this issue soon. Because it really... REALLY sucks. Anyways, thanks for the help guys.

Because it's not.

It wont until they make another Origin patch that fixes it.

Anyways, me and other friends contacted EA and, they... well., let's just say that they don't want to assume their mistake.

So, we've to take the temporal solution of ON/OFF Origin until they want to fix it, that or stop playing one of our favorite games.

In about 9h (19 o'clock CET) the next ME3 patch will be released, the Release Notes state "Fixed an issue with high memory usage when initializing DLCs." So you might want to check for updates in a couple of hours and maybe this patch fixes the issue for those who had crashes.
