The flickering textures on the Reapers and Alliance ships may be caused by something called z-fighting or it's related to the camera "nearclip" distance. Using a 24-bit or 32-bit Z-buffer tends to make the issue go away or at least a little more bearable. When you see the Reaper up close, it's not really that noticable, but when the Reaper is farther way, then the textures flicker really badly.
