Well one possible plot line I could think of is that Ryder goes to the background as the celebrated Pathfinder that made settling in the Andromeda Galaxy possible.
But then the Kett attacks keep happening and there's talk of a massive invasion. As we don't have the resources to defend against the full might of the Kett Empire, we take the fight to them.
So a new hero stands up that is part of the attack and when the attack fails, he/she is left with a single small ship and crew to go inside the Kett main base to try a final suicidal mission that will at least cripple and halt the Kett.
While we do this, we find out some more about the dreaded Scourge which turns everything we knew upside down.
End of that chapter. More to follow.
Now if the new hero gets sequels, I could be ok with this being a one-off but I really don't want to go from one one-off to another like DA.
I agree about the hero being switched out each game is not fun, like in DA. Although I really disliked Hawke, felt no emotional attachment at all. I left Hawke to fight the demon and felt no guilt/sadness. To me Hawke was a doormat.
I am kind of hoping that mom being alive means that the twins will have families at some point. Who better to babysit than mom when your out pathfinding? Since mom was hooked up to SAM does this mean mom can use remnant tech?

Yup was many years ago, I vaguely remembered liking Dragon Age the first one... Especially really liking Morigan... Man that voice... Love Claudia black(didnt know it was her at that time)... I didnt remember DA2 that much, didnt have much connection, just played the game, think I enjoyed it but nothing earth shattering. DAI was ok as well, no biggie... Didnt connect with the inquisitor as well... Actually the name turns me off a little, some negativity at the back of my head linking it to the Spanish inquisition and the pain they inflicted in the name of religion. Just like if there's another game and my title is Führer, the entire game could be about something else killing dragons, slaying demons, but at the back of my mind it reminds me of Hit*ler(why is his name censored by this board? It's not a vulgarity lol... It's history...), same title and all... Maybe I am just weird, wiring's a little crossed...lol...- EgoMania8 years agoSeasoned Ace

Heh, well frame of reference does matter. When I hear the Spanish Inquisition, my first reference is Monthy Python. And well I've played Warhammer 40k a lot so Inquisitors also there have a much different meaning. Still, I also didn't connect to the character in DA:I either just for different reasons.
DA:2 I played a lot more and I did like it but the game did have some major issues about travelling and zones just being copy/paste. I remember that for sure. Still the story was more interesting still than DA:I. I still think the original one is the best.
It's interesting to me, because one could argue that if it's the first game you played it has a special meaning and that's true, but for Mass Effect it's 2 and 3 I still play and not 1.
But I'm with you on that a single reference or connotation can really ruin a game.
So maybe you're not the only weird one here hehe.

i had the same thoughts about the titles in full metal alchemist, till i got used to it...
anyway, while i did like DA:O, DA2, and i had a love/hate relationship with DAI (though it feels there's more hate than love at times), i never truly felt as connected to the dragon age series as i did to mass effect's. and i happen to make a direct connection to the rotating protagonists in DA as the main cause.

personally i want to play as an asari enough with the human bias what are you Cerbereus Bioware in a game with so many intresting races you always end up oh humanity will save the day ... when in reality we'd probley screw up and get everyone killed what with being the youngest race and all :D
