[PS3] Console dying, need to back up saves, but some are locked
Exactly as the title suggests. My PS3's laser drive is slowly dying and tomorrow morning I'm buying a new Playstation. I've been searching all over for a simple answer to this for the past hour and I'm going nuts.
I went to back up all my save files from my account to a USB drive. Mass Effect 3 has more than one save file in the list, however only one of them can be copied (looks like my main save file for single player). The other says "copying prohibited", but I don't know what's different about this file and if I need it or not.
My main concern is I LOVE the multiplayer game and I want to make sure that file I can't copy isn't going to be something multiplayer related. I have no idea where all that data is saved - PSN account, servers, locked save file? If I lose all my unlocked characters I'll be savage!
Thanks in advance for any help!

All Multiplayer data is stored offline on the server tied to your account. Therefore your Multiplayer data is safe, just might need a re-download.
Some of the files are tied to your unit and account with security features and will therefore not work on your new machine, but need to be re-created.
In case you didn't already have one, here is a guide on moving data around:

On another note, I have a PS3 friend who's disk stopped working over a year ago. They can still use their PS3 for a lot of things via the Store and networking options.
You're in luck because if you obtain an identical model console, you can switch your old HDD over to the new Playstation 3 and rock on.
Otherwise if you're changing to a newer model of PS3 you'll need to use the data backup tool to save everything from your console as Kuvuplan recommended.
