From what I have heard from people the only way to get an outpost/quest for the architect it to give the core to morda. So unless anyone else can shed some light on the matter I would either wait for a second playthrough or load a save. Hope this helps alittle.

Unfortunately the loss of the mission you're looking for is one of the costs of keeping the drive core.
The mission to face the Architect is given at the Colony which you cannot establish if you opt to keep the drive core. Unfortunately, it's one or the other but not both.
If you want the quest to fight the Architect, you have to give the Krogan the core.

Morda warned you if you keep the core what will happen. You didn't believe her?
If you desperately need the remnant research points, keep it. It gives you 1000 plus some ridiculous amount of credits which you dont need. If you do not need the research points give them the core so you can have all the outposts you need.
I went with the second option as i needed one more ZK tracker and you get that only if you place an outpost, plus the architect fights are fun.
It gives you a fusion mod of 25% increased weapon headshot/weakpoint damage bonus for 70% reduced weapon clip size (35% with Cryo Pods), so decide which one is more important for you.
