It happens to me once per session; always when the first notification of the Origin overlay happens (be it an achievement, a friend coming online/starts to play something, etc). After that is stays maximized, even when I get Origin overlay notifications.
Haven't tried disabling the overlay yet, but will.

To me it seems like it was happening whenever I'd get an achievement. It's stopped happening though. I'm note sure if that's because I moved on to Mass Effect 3, or if it it's something else.

Yes, it happens if you get an achievement.
In that moment you get an achievement an Origin overlay is displayed on the right bottom corner of the display, and if a program that also has an overlay, like discord, is running in the background an interference between this too prompts Windows to "think" that an other application window got priority over the game and minimizes it.- RUltimateTobi4 years agoNot applicable@holger1405 It also happens when no other program is running (maybe OBS is causing it as well, but it has no overlay), only Origin.
So far I've tested it only with Mass Effect (haven't played ME2 or ME3).
It also only happens once. After the first minimization, no further minimizations occur. OBS is a Steaming and Broadcast software, so there are without a doubt overlay and hookup APIs used.
Easiest way would to disable OBS and test.
It is also possible that the Origin overlay alone can cause this problems on some systems.

Hey all,
I just recently recorded with OBS again but this time had Origin In-Game disabled (it still displayed the FPS counter and showed achievements and friends going on/off/playing). It did not minimize when either notification appeared. With Origin In-Game enabled, it'd have minimized on the first notification (and only once, for me).
So if your game minimizes or keeps minimizing, try disabling Origin In-Game in the Origin client settings.
