Problem solved.....I got a US ME2 disc, had to reinstall the whole game and it recognized my ME1 save file. The problem is that the US disc doesn't recognize the previous UK region 2 save files.

I have the US trilogy set for ps3 and I'm still having issues importing everything. Is there anyone out there with the set having issues?
I am having the same issue. All done with ME1 and when I try to import character to ME2, it shows blank space. Very disappointed as I own all 3 for xbox but gave to son as he uses xbox all time and I prefer ps3. I think that it is pretty ridiculous to release the trilogy for ps3 and have a such a major problem. What's the point of playing ME1 if you can't import to the next game?
I finally called EA and was told outright that they were not supporting the import from ME1 to ME2. Well guess what? I have a friend who bought the trilogy (US) and successfully imported his character from ME1 straight through. So, since my friend is not the liar.... I'll let you draw your own conclusions. I am not impressed with EA at all.
Ive been on custtomer support chat and they are telling me that mass effect isnt available on playstation 3 😛

Hi everyone,
After installing patch 1.04 you should be able to import your saves from ME1 to ME2. If you are still running into issues, it could be due to region mismatch as PSN separates the three regions (NA/EU/APAC).
Hope that helps!

But how can that be if I already bought ME2 and ME3 in the US and then download ME through PSN in the US as well?? Shouldn't ME already be from the North American region??

Did you patch your ME2 to 1.04? It should work with the patch.
There may be a corruption in the game or update files that are stored on your system itself. Please try deleting these game files and try again. To do this:
- Press the PS button on the controller to enter the PLAYSTATION 3 XrossMediaBar
- Select the Game tab.
- Select the Game Data Utility and press the X button.
- Find and delete all the game data listed.
Do that for ME2 first and check if it works after that.
- Anonymous13 years agoInitially I didn't think it was a region issue, because my ME2 and ME3 discs are from different regions and I had managed to import my character from ME2. But then I asked around in the forums and realized that all the others with the same problem also had imported copies of the game. I bought a version of ME2 to match the region of the PSN version of ME1 and was immediately able to import my Shepard

Hi everyone,
We would like to get more information about this. I already saw some people in this thread who have games from the same region and have patched the game but are still not able to import the saves.
Please let us know if you are still not able to import your saves and
- patched the game to 1.04
- have all games from the same region (NA/EU/APAC)
- (to be on the save side) deleted your Game Data Utility
Thanks a lot for your help,
Ursula

This is still happening to me and I've tried everything as well, althought how can I tell what region is my ME save files from if I downloaded the game through PSN? Shouldn't it be the NA region?
- Anonymous13 years ago
All three of my games are from the same Trilogy pack, purchased from Gamestop in the United States and my PS3 is from North America as well. My Mass Effect 2 had the 1.04 patch. I deleted the Game Data Utility (twice) and reinstalled Mass Effect 2. To date there is still no way to import my character from Mass Effect 1 (and yes I completed the first game).
And could someone tell me where I should go to ask for support for the Mass Effect 2 Access Code that was provided with the Trilogy? To date whenever I enter it I'm told that the code has already been used despite the Trilogy being bought completely new. Should I seek help on this forum or another one?
I have the first 2 games downloaded from the psn and my problem still persists
- Anonymous13 years agoIt seems like the issue is with NA copies of the game then...
- Anonymous13 years ago
Not necessarily. I've seen at least one here from New Zealand.
- Anonymous13 years agoI've been dealing with this for weeks. I think I've finally found a breakthrough but something still isn't working:
The problem seems to be the "hidden" transfer file. When there are ME1 games that were started after the very first original playthrough character, like a new game or the continuation of a victorious career, ME2 can't seem to be able to read any of the files. However, if you delete all the post-victory save files and new careers AND your playthrough game data in the ps3 file, you may be able to pick up the original character in ME2. My problem is that even after doing that and deleting the original character (effectively starting completely from scratch in me1, as if I had just bought it) I STILL cant find my character in the ME2 import character menu. I am thinking that the ME1 game data itself may be holding all of the hidden save data and thus preventing any continuation except with that one original character.
Make sense? Any thoughts? - Anonymous13 years agoThe simple fix would appear to be a patch "revealing" all the hidden transfer files so that me2 coukd find them. However I am not a data dude and am not sure what that would entail. This Just seems to be a Stupid system. All I wanted to do was play a Character all the way through.

Unfortunately I've never been able to do any post-game playing for ME 1 (not even sure how) nor any ME 1 character imports and I still can't import characters in ME 2 (I have no trouble importing them to ME 3 incidentally). It doesn't sound like it's just a problem if you kept playing after finishing the game the first time.

I'm still having this issue. I've patched, deleted/reinstalled all game data multiple times. Beaten Mass Effect 1 four times now and I still can't import a character. All of my games are from the same region as well. This is really starting to frustrate me.

I have the problem that whenever i exit out of Mass Effect 1, the enter existing ID option disappears, which means it is not a problem wih Mass Effect 2, but a problem with Mass Effect 1 actually not 'holding onto' the completed game save.
I have...
- patched ME2 to 1.04
- deleted game data utility for ME and ME2 and thus reinstalled the patch
i have is the trilogy version of the game so it should not be a region issue
Please help, the only reason i bought the trilogy version was so i could play through all three fantastic games
- Anonymous13 years agoSo after giving up on all my me1progress so far and all the attempts at trying to fix this goddamn problem, I decided to just restart completely on a new ps3 profile. That would fix it right? WRONG! Nothing. Brand new profile, no me1 data whatsoever, and the things still won't work. This is absolutely ridiculous. It worked the first time! Is the truth of the matter only one continue-able character per ps3? And the silence on this from all the people who could fix it is awesome...
I have deleted and installed ME2 and patch 1.04, deleted game data utility, and assume that all games in the ME Trilogy are from the same region (NA) and still cannot import my ME1 character to ME2. Please fix this! I have a friend who doesn't have this issue. (trilogy edition)
Awesome, so, I was told to start the game and I would be prompted to import a character after cutscene, during character creation. But no, that is not what happened, instead I go to character creation find that notthing like that is there, still. I go through the entire customization process just incase, but no still didnt work and this is an answer I waited for over 2 weeks

Personally, I don't care at all for any gaming console. For all I know, given the small number of members actively posting here, there are no experienced console people at hand you can discuss your problems with.
THIS IS NOT OFFICIAL SUPPORT.
This is Gamer to Gamer Tech Discussion, "Self-help". The Official help is in charge of the Game Advisers, who you can ONLY reach by going to the EA Help Center and STAYING there until you connect. Really simple.
No one here can "Fix" ANYTHING. That's not how self-help forums work, sorry.
- Anonymous12 years agoTo be fair, Bioware's forums imply it "For any tech related issues please visit the new, Answer HQ! Ask. Answer. Be the Hero." Since that's literally all they say about tech related issues you could be forgiven for thinking that it was both a site for people to talk to each other about tech issues and an official tech support forum with EA tech support working here.
