Is it only on ME1 or have you tried 2 or 3. ME1 is old, so the file structures maybe the problem, especially if the increased the texture but retained the old format.

I haven't tried yet, since I didn't want to be spoiled by playing too much of the other two games, I'll give it a try.
OK ! I've tried the prologue of mass effect 2 (and a bit of walking in the normandy) and it seems to work far better than me1, the loading screens are really decent and there are maybe just a little bit of stuttering while doing auto/quick saves but nothing unusual. So yeah, the problem comes from me1 !
Good so at least we know 2 & 3 are most likely fine. Only thing I can think of is to relocate the files. Is the external USB 3.0, Can you try another USB port or if you have another external Drive??
Yes, The Usb IS 3.0. Maybe it's just a conflict with an old game file and my material or some sh*t like that. I think I'll just play the 2 and 3 for the moment, ad if there's really no solution or patch fixing this in the next few days I'll try reinstalling it on my main hard drive (but gosh, making 100gb space in it will not be easy).
Ok. Now I can't launch the game anymore, it crashes after the bioware cutscene...
- @mrmaquerelle And now The launcher starts but it loops as I try to launch a game, and on Me1 I don't have the "continue" option anymore. This is F*cked up, I'm done with all these "remasters".
Same setup or did you move the directory? If you did, In Origin, under game library, click on the game, then click on the gear icon next to PLAY, slect locate game and point it to the new install location.
Ok, I somehow managed to make it work again, but I think mass effect 1 will stay unplayable until there is a more "official solution". It's maybe just a conflict with its old gamefiles or stuff like that. Until this I'll just play 2 and 3.
