ME3 Legendary Crashing On Launch

Hi all - I'm asking this question here because I've tried basically every solution to this problem that I've come across in other forums/reddit posts/youtube videos and none of them have helped me.

Two days ago, I went to launch ME3 and when I went clicked resume and went to the loading screen, the game crashed. I had been playing the game the previous day with no issues (just finished Priority: Tuchanka) and I've also played ME3 several times on this computer with absolutely no problems. To my knowledge nothing changed for me hardware/software-wise in the 24 hours between game sessions. ME1 and ME2 also launch fine. In an effort to try and solve my problem I have:

  • restarted my computer, Steam, and the EA app
  • repaired the game files on steam
  • deleted the cache on the EA app
  • turned off overlays for both steam and the EA app
  • went online and offline in both applications
  • updated my drivers
  • uninstalled and reinstalled the game onto my computer's built-in hard drive
  • turned off cloud syncing
  • moved save files to desktop to test if it was a problem with a corrupt save
  • uninstalled the game, made a new steam and EA account, repurchased MELE and redownloaded it just because I wanted to be as thorough as possible

I also probably tested some other things that I've just forgotten about at this point.

So, if someone happens to have some thoughts on something else I can try or what might be the problem, that would be so appreciated. Or you can just tell me I'm doomed to never play ME3 again. I will attach my DXDiag (please don't make fun of me for playing on a partitioned MacBook I know it's lame and bad let me live).

Thank you!

I turned off cloud sync on steam and went offline on the EA APP; both were turned off when I moved the save files.

    Ok, try it this way:

    1. Make sure Steam and EA app are closed.
    2. Disable the internet connection of your PC.
    3. Go to your "Documents\Bioware\Mass Effect Legendary Edition\” folder.
    4. Move the "Save" folder and the “LauncherConfig.cfg”, “TrilogyGamerProfile” and the “TrilogyGamerProfile-XXXX” file to your Desktop. (The folder and files must be gone from the original path!)
Do not restore the internet connection until you tested the game!
    5. Test the game.

If the game still don't works:
      1. Press Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.
      2. In the new Window, type or copy and paste "%LOCALAPPDATA%\CrashDumps" (Without the quotation marks) > Press ENTER
      3. Check to see if there are any "*.dmp" files named after the game exe in the ".Local\CrashDumps" folder.
      4. Zip 2 - 3 ">Game.exe<.dmp" files together and upload them at a free file hosting service like Dropbox, or you can use your OneDrive "public" folder
      5. Post the link here.

If there aren't any dump files of the game:

      1. Press the Windows key > Write: Command Prompt > Right click on "Command Prompt" in the search results > Run as administrator.
      2. Copy and paste:
        reg add "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\LocalDumps\devenv.exe" /v DumpType /d 2 /t REG_DWORD
into the prompt Window > Press ENTER.
      3. Play the game until it crashes.
      4. After the game crashes, let all Windows crash dialogues finish.
      5. Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time.> Type "%LOCALAPPDATA%\CrashDumps" (Without the quotation marks) into the new window > Press ENTER.
      6. Zip 2 - 3 "*.dmp" files named after the game exe together and upload them at a file hosting service like Dropbox or you can use the OneDrive "public" folder.

       Post the link here.

Sorry for the late answer, live interfered yesterday.

All your DUMP files show INVALID_POINTER_READ accesses violations.
This means that "MassEffect3.exe" or a function that it called used a pointer that was invalid, either because it pointed to zero, because the memory it pointed to had already been freed or the memory address was invalid.

All that equals a accesses violations and the program is terminated.

The problem is that this can have many reasons:

    1. Hit Windows key and X.
    2. Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Command prompt (Administrator),” or "Windows Terminal (Administrator)", whichever option is offered.
    3. Inside PowerShell, CMD or Terminal enter: (You can copy and paste the following cursive text.) DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Checkhealth
    4. Press ENTER.
    5. If errors are found, notify us. If no errors were found repeat steps 1 & 2.
    6. Inside PowerShell, CMD or Terminal enter: DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
    7. Press ENTER.
    8. The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here.
    9. After it reaches 100% repeat steps 1 & 2.
    10. Inside PowerShell, CMD or Terminal enter: sfc /scannow
    11. Press ENTER.
    12. Post the message you receive at the end of the processes here.

      Then:

    Please preform a Clean Boot:
A clean boot is a process that starts Windows with a minimal set of services and startup programs. This can help eliminate or find software conflicts.

How to perform the clean boot:

    • Press Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.
    • Type “msconfig” (Without the quotes.) > Enter.
    • In the System Configuration window, go to the Services tab.
    • Check the box that says, “Hide all Microsoft services”.
    • Click Disable all. (Make sure the EABackgroundService remains enabled.)
    • Go to the Startup tab and click Open Task Manager.
    • In the Task Manager, disable all startup items that are activated.
    • Close Task Manager and go back to the System Configuration window, then click OK.
    • Restart the computer, the PC will start into clean boot mode.
    • Test the Game.

      2. Additional Steps (Inside the Clean Boot Mode)
    • Ensure your virus scanner and other security software are disabled.
    • Disable Afterburner and similar software.
    • Make sure any CORSAIR software is disabled or uninstalled.
    • Ensure your GPU and CPU are not overclocked.
    • Disconnect all peripherals except for your mouse and keyboard.
