YAYYYYYYAAYYY. Finally!! The code to the laser is randomized. What worked for me was W W W D A. Just luck to come across the right combination but I am out and on my way.

    The code is randomized.  You need to use trial and error, memorizing the inputs that will clear a ring, and avoiding the ones that send you back to the start.
