    How do you stop the sync to the cloud?

    @keicyn01

    In Origin, menu top left corner > Origin > Application Settings > INSTALLS & SAVES > Cloud storage > OFF

    Please create a DxDiag in text file format, also go to your Reliability monitor (Press the windows key and "R" at the same time and copy or type "perfmon /rel" (without the quotes) in > ENTER and look if it has ME2 entries.

    If yes double click at the last one, copy it to the clipboard, (Bottom left corner) save it to a text file and load it up together with the DxDiag. You can do that with the "choose file" button at the bottom right corner of the reply window.

    I was running ME2 after reinstalling it.  Origin wouldn't recognize it (ME 1 and ME3 were recognized).  I linked ME2 to Origin via "Non EA Games". and I was running fine. After a couple for freezes during the mission to save Thane Krios ' son, suddenly the Play button in the ME2 window doesn't work.  Button doesn't move. It is as if it is only an image, not an operable button.

    Any thoughts?

    See if you can launch it through the .exe file or start menu shortcut.  Make sure ME2 has fully stopped running, because I have had a few crashes lately in which a game is still running a process basically as a background one, but shouldn't be.  When it leaves a process running, the only ways I got to fix it was to open task manager and find the process or to restart my entire machine.  Last option would be to input the full code for ME2 into Origin and make it a full Origin game(if that is an options by it being a disk version of the game instead of a digital one).

    @Jpmalm

    Sorry for the late answer, was on vacation the last week.

    Try this:

    Go to your ">drive<:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Mass Effect 2\Binaries" folder.

    Rename the "MassEffect2.exe" to "MassEffect2Launcher.exe"

    Rename the "ME2Game.exe" to "MassEffect2.exe" > test.

    @Kyle97Rubin

    • Go to your ">drive<:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Mass Effect 2\__Installer\vc\vc2005\redist\" folder.
    • Run the "vcredist_x86.exe" as Administrator. (Right click the exe > run as an Administrator)
      If you don't have an "Install" option, "Repair" the installation.
    • Reboot.
    • Test.

    Hey, I have been trying for hours - I have

    [1] Repaired

    [2] Uninstalled the game

    [3] Uninstalled Origin

    [4] Deleted saves

    [5] Disabled syncing to the cloud

    [6] Enabled syncing to the cloud

    [7] The suggestion to rename the files

    Literally everything and my game will not launch, I have been playing fine for weeks and even this morning then nothing... please help!

    Okay, I did the following:

    Reinstalled EA app. (Origin won't even <install> now, so HAVE to use EA App.)

    Reinstalled Mass Effect 2

    Installed Visual C 2005. Tellingly, it never asked to repair, which indicates it was never installed in the first place.

    Renamed the executables.

    And after all that, ME2 FINALLY worked. However, I have a secondary problem. I had a stroke some years ago, and now need to use WeMod just to play the game at all. With the renamed executables WeMod won't run, so I have to use an unmodded ME2. Is there a way to get ME2 working without renaming files?

    Or will I have to buy the Legendary edition? Hope not, Paying for the game twice blows.

    There should be an option in WeMod to change the file path for ME2.

    1. Click the down arrow next to the blue "play" button in wemod.
    2. It should say "select game source" look at the bottom of the list.  There should be a box to drop a file for manual assignment of the .exe to run the game.
    3. drag and drop the .exe file from your steam or origin file path into the box.
    4. Run the game.
    5. Click play as usual.
