If you had EA access/play and the subscription ended, then you will need to talk to official help and chat with a good Customer service rep.  What happens in this case is a good rep will remove all MEA from your account and then add back what you should have on your account.  Alternate way to try to get around this is to see if you can uninstall the game, and if you can and it offers revert to previous edition, try this and see if it works.

You also must make sure you are online in Origin before trying to start game...look at upper right corner of Origin app and make sure you are online and not set as offline.
