Re: Mass Effect: Andromeda is no longer supported (according to EA Help)

I'll see if I can find an official EA statement via the Wayback Machine, but my understanding is that the Super Deluxe Edition is supposed to contain everything the Deluxe Edition does plus additional multiplayer bonuses.

I guess my question is thus: Had I pre-ordered the Deluxe Edition instead of the Super Deluxe Edition, would I have these two multiplayer packs right now even if they were added to the Deluxe Edition after launch? Is so, shouldn't I have these with the Super Deluxe Edition? Particularly considering the higher price tag?

Hey @Cantiras my understanding is that those packs were the final packs added to the game and were not included in any existing bundle.

If you believe that you should have received the items then the best thing to do is to speak with one of our chat support advisers who will be able to advise you further.

You can contact our live support at help.ea.com.

To  speak with a chat adviser:

    Click on your product Origin

    Then select 'PC

    Manage my Account'

    Can't log in

Finally, you can choose to begin a chat.

My original post was verbose, so I apologize if it was unclear, but before posting here, I contacted help.ea.com. It was an EA Help agent (via help.ea.com chat) who told me the game is no longer supported ("few months ago the game is under unsupported games so our team removed the options from here to add the content for it"). I was shocked and sought confirmation of this twice. I was told the game is no longer supported. He never wavered when I questioned him on this.

I'll try Twitter, but I'm pretty confident I'll be spinning my wheels.

Unfortunately, all I can find on the Wayback Machine cached for Origin.com in the pre-order time period are the backgrounds of the website, but no actual games show up.

https://www.ea.com/games/mass-effect/mass-effect-andromeda/news/mass-effect-game-editions makes no mention of the Standard Edition receiving the Turian Soldier Multiplayer Recruit Pack nor the Deluxe Edition receiving both the Turian Soldier Multiplayer Recruit Pack and the Asari Adept Multiplayer Recruit, so I suspect the packs may have been added to those editions after launch.

Hence my question, if I had pre-ordered either the Standard or Deluxe Edition, would I have received the applicable multiplayer recruit packs even if those were added to the editions after launch? I think the Super Deluxe Edition was overlooked since it was purposely only available for purchase for a limited time.

I'm not seeking three or all four multiplayer recruit packs, I'm just seeking parity with the Deluxe Edition. Furthermore, if the honest truth is that people who pre-ordered the Standard Edition never received the Turian Soldier Multiplayer Recruit Pack and that people who pre-ordered the Deluxe Edition never received the Turian Soldier and  Asari Adept Multiplayer Recruit Packs, I will accept that pre-orders aren't eligible for this additional content (although I don't think that is consumer friendly).

    @EA_Darko

I managed to find a cache of masseffect.com. Here is what it says:

    "Super Deluxe Edition
Mass Effect Andromeda: Super Deluxe Edition Includes:

Mass Effect Andromeda’s Super Deluxe Edition sets you up with all the incredible extra gear and additional benefits of the Deluxe Edition, but piles on even more Multiplayer Booster Packs. Dominate your co-op play with a Premium Pack coming your way every week, for 20 weeks."

Hey @Cantiras as I said above, this is something which you will need to speak with our live support in relation to.

They will be able to take a look at your account with you and confirm what you should have.

The Super Deluxe Edition was advertised as "Mass Effect Andromeda’s Super Deluxe Edition sets you up with ALL THE INCREDIBLE EXTRA GEAR AND ADDITIONAL BENEFITS OF THE DELUXE EDITION, but piles on even more Multiplayer Booster Packs." It's even in the title of the edition, it's the Super DELUXE Edition. It should have everything the Deluxe Edition has plus some additional multiplayer booster packs; EA advertised it that way after all. An additional benefit of the Deluxe Edition is that it was updated after release to include the Turian Solider and Asari Adept Multiplayer Recruit Packs. If the Super Deluxe Edition truly has the additional benefits of the Deluxe Edition it should have been updated as well, but EA overlooked the Super Deluxe Edition since it was a limited edition that had ceased being sold by the time of the update. Even the Standard Edition was updated with the Turian Soldier Multiplayer Recruit Pack.

I was just seeking parity with the Deluxe Edition; that is reasonable and fair given how the Super Deluxe Edition is named and was advertised and considering the notably higher price tag I paid (lesson learned). Due to the poor release quality of the game, I decided to come back to it sometime after it had been patched, and now that I've had some free time to do just that, I realized EA failed to update the Super Deluxe Edition with the Turian Solider and Asari Adept Multiplayer Recruit Packs, and EA will not honor what was advertised: "ALL THE INCREDIBLE EXTRA GEAR AND ADDITIONAL BENEFITS OF THE DELUXE EDITION".

As a final update to this thread, I have since been informed by another EA Help representative that EA Help no longer has the ability to add content, and "what support we have is even more limited, just basic tech support and refund type issues". I can't fault them in this regard, they apparently have no ability to add content for the game, even after consulting with "specialists".

Requesting another party to speak with who does have the administrative access to remedy this goes nowhere. This is needlessly secretive, almost like EA is controlled by Sith Lords or evil robots behind the scenes and EA Help representatives are their shock-collar-wearing captives. Who is there to turn to when a problem is resolvable by a company but the only point of contact you have with that company doesn't have the ability to resolve it themselves and can't forward it to anyone else? Regardless of the problems encountered, EA customers are almost always directed to EA Help as the sole source of resolution, but EA Help itself has been hamstrung in what it can actually do. It would be like directing someone who needs new brake pads to consult a paralegal. It makes no sense if customer service is the actual goal. The truth is it primarily exists to exhaust customers into giving up without a resolution. Well, mission accomplished.

Like I said, being an EA customer is sometimes like death by a thousand cuts. I enjoy the games (for the most part), but the support experience is woefully deficient. Also, that is not an attack on any community managers, I'm sure you're doing the best you can within the role and limitations you've been given, but the support system you are a part of needs an overhaul.

  • You clearly are not listening to anything @Cantiras is telling you. This absolutely highlights the systemic issues plaguing the entire EA organization and its indifference to customers' concerns or support. I found my way into this thread after having experienced similar problems with no resolution. Sadly, it looks like another snub, shrug, and finger from EA. The company should post a banner above their help links that reads "Abandon all hope, ye who enter here."
