Re: Mass Effect Andromeda language choice

@GreUJnik

I am not entirely sure what you mean by "Voice overs don't cut it by themselves" in conjunction with "but the very sad excuse of a translation was and is still horrendous"?

It seems you don't like the translated versions of games for your region, but if that is the case even with an international version you only would have one other option, English subtitles because the spoken language in game will be English anyway.

    I guess he means that voice overs have to be done good, not just be there. If the dubbing actors are horrendous at their job, the voice overs will be horrible. And they have to be translated correctly.

    What I meant is, having voice overs in original language and translated subtitles is like simultaneously reading the same book done by different authors.

    When something is being said (audio), and you don't see the accurate written representation (subtitles), you get lost (is it the audio which is incorrect? or is translation done wrong? Which message is correct).

    So I say, that the original voice overs are a must, but they ought to have a subtitles in the same language which will tell you (if you say, you didn't hear something due to all explosions, or quirks the character might have) what is being said. Original audio can't just be supplemented with 2nd rate or worse translation, which is the case in ME 2, DA:I and even ME:A as I see in the trailers (In regards to the latest trailer in origin: some phrases are not even translated, and those that are, about 1/4 of them miss the point of what is being said. And that's only the voiced part, I am scared of how the translation of written-only text would be misinterpreted). Series like ME rely on the story, lore, dialogs and its accurate representation. On the other hand, Battlefront would be okay to play in russian, since there is not much to be said to talk about. Just point and shoot, pure gameplay.

    I am perfectly okay with having english voice over and english subtitles only, as it is the original language the game is being done in.

    (Besides, the international version doesn't have russian or polish as options for subtitles, so I would be stuck with english, german, italian, spanish, french options, out of which the english will be my main and only choice).

    This is what the script was being written in, this is what actors who did the audio were paid for. If this is fcked up, then it shows the quality of the game itself.

    Of course that should be the case, but it is irrelevant here simply because there will no dub for the regions we are taking about.

    @GreUJnik

    Well, than your only option is to get a international version. The DLC point you raised is of course valid, I don't know if you can this time install upcoming DLCs on an international version in a language locked region.

    So if I buy the German version. Is it possible to play the game with English voices, subs and menu ?

    Yup. Same here. I'm playing demo and Polish subs are awful. I'm gonna wait with the decision to buy full version til it's fixed.

    There is one solution. Unlock English substitles. What's the big deal?

  • All we actually need is each and every singlu langtex file... even in installerdata.xml file all languuage choices has been setup but without those files we can do nothing
