Synchronization error
I bought a new computer, and I installed Mass Effect the Legendary edition on it. The first time I start it I get an error telling me I have no local saves. I now have no saves at all and I have lost four years of progress.

The cloud is a QOL feature, not a suitable back up function.
The only way you could access your saves now is to copy them over from your old system.
